SwiftShader logo - Image 1Known for its video game portability technology, TransGaming Technologies just announced that it will launch SwiftShader 2.0 to help developers create graphics on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X using the software-based 3D rendering system. Given the available multi-core CPUs in the market, this version of SwiftShader promises a convenient drop-in solution which broadens the playing field.

Through press wire, TransGaming Technologies stated that SwiftShader 2.0 allows software written for DirectX to use software rendering with no changes to the source code. Supposedly, it can render games like Half-Life 2 entirely in software.

With "casual game developers and others requiring software graphics" in mind, the upcoming engine can create 3D graphics on both dated desktop computers and high-end machines.

A demo of the rendering system is available for download, and those who are interested in acquiring SwiftShader 2.0 for an efficient rendering system with DirectX 8 and 9 class features can visit TransGaming Technologies' website which you can find below.
