The iPhone - Image 1The iPhone achieved phenomenal success on its launch date, and a whopping majority of those who owned iPhones were very satisfied with their purchase. However, a good launch isn't all there is to the product, it seems.

According to Lightspeed Research, about 30% of the their iPhone survey respondents said that they are planning to purchase an iPhone. That translates to about 1 in every 3 people planning to get themselves a piece of Apple's hot new gadget.

Of the 39,000 people who participated in the survey, about 90% have heard about the iPhone. Helped with the hype and fanfare that preceded the launch of the innovative gadget, Apple managed to secure high product awareness from the public.

40% of the people from the younger set - aged 18 to 24 - said they were planning to purchase an iPhone in the near future. Not surprising, since the iPhone is now viewed as a must-have, and a device that will help the owner gain more popularity among peers.

Despite the one-iPhone-per-person limit on the launch date, 34 people were able to purchase more than one iPhone. Too bad for those people who tried to buy an iPhone, yet failed due to lack of stock. These unlucky people who didn't manage to score an iPhone comprised 6% of the survey respondents.

Multimedia phones are now the in-thing, with about 12,000 people saying that they want to own an iPhone solely for its multimedia features, such as music and video playback and internet browsing. Anne Hedde, Lightspeed Research's President and CEO sums up the American fascination of the iPhone quite nicely:

It's interesting to see that Americans, especially those under 46, continue to seek more functionality, including music, movies, internet and wireless, in a single package. According to our research, the iPhone frenzy should continue in line with increasing demand for emerging technology.

I have to say, all those who buy an Iphone are either;

1) Wasting Money

2) Mental Conditions

3) Just because it says 'i' doesn't mean its good, ok?!!

I mean, all the Iphone is, is an oversize smart phone with NO stylus! what the freag?! Literraly, your using your finger to distinguish a keyboard! What if your a BIG guy and your fingers are chubby? Now what? your screwed, so save up your money and buy a PDA phone. Its cheaper, better and you can stream music from your desktop pc or laptop on it!! so who gives a crap about a 8gig HHD!!!!!

THanks you
