If you want to prevent such incidents, you might want to try out the newest contraption from Pioneer dubbed as the Pioneer SE-22 headphones. It is no ordinary headphone, for it claims that it is waterproof, so come rain or shine you could still listen to great beats. Although no one really knows how much watery punishment it could take (you could conduct a little experiment on that if you want, then hit me back and tell me all about it, haha!), this headphones provide 100 decibels and will work on an audio range from 20Hz to 20kHz. No word on the price tag but I have this feeling that you won't wait long to know how much this thingamajig is.
