Man Sues Apple Over Hearing Loss Danger |

A Louisiana man has filed a suit against Apple, alleging that the iPod is an inherently dangerous device that can cause hearing loss. The man claims that Apple has not done a sufficient job in warning its customers of the potential for losing their hearing, or at least a partial amount of their hearing and seeks a "resolution." According to the Boston Herald:The suit, which Kiel Patterson wants certified as a class-action, seeks compensation for unspecified damages and upgrades that will make iPods safer. Patterson’s suit said he bought an iPod last year, but does not specify whether he suffered hearing loss. Patterson does not know if the device has damaged his hearing, said his attorney, Steve W. Berman, of Seattle. But that’s beside the point of the lawsuit, which takes issue with the potential the iPod has to cause irreparable hearing loss, Berman said.
Of course anyone with an iPod has definitely read the warning that comes with the device itself that warns against listening to music at loud volumes over extended periods of time. I wonder if this guy is related to the guy who sued Microsoft because of the overheating issues that plagued some of the systems. Of course, the only real winners in class-action lawsuits like these are the lawyers, and the world will always have those.
