iTeddy media player - Image 1When the first stuffed bear toy appeared in an 1894 German toy catalogue, no one could have guessed back then that this toy would someday evolve to play music, show moving pictures, and have enough space to store music and video files. Here's the teddy bear of the future: iTeddy, your cuddly little media player companion.

Available in two colors: brown and white, iTeddy has a speaker on its tummy that lets you play music. There's also a version that features a two-inch color LCD screen which allows you to play downloadable movies. A built in block game would also be readily playable with this stuffed animal. We're guessing that this could be the answer to techie tots who wouldn't settle down to sleep without having their videogames first.

iTeddy will have a tie-in with a website that will release downloadable movies, music, and games that could be played on it, but readily available is the built-in tetris-type of a block game. Kids and parents alike could have quality time bonding together choosing games, movies and music to download and transfer to the iTeddy with a USB connection.

If you would like to see your own movies and listen to songs you already have on the iTeddy though, a file converting software that comes with the iTeddy must be used. You could also record "good night" and "good morning" greetings on the handy recorder that comes as an added function, for personalized greetings when you're not there to deliver them to your iTeddy-toting love one yourself.

The iTeddy is yet to come, with the estimated retail price of US$ 68 for the standard MP3 form and US$ 96 for the media player form. It might be smarter than Yogi bear himself, but will it ever rival mommy and daddy's presence?
