After all the delays and the setbacks, publisher Electronic Arts has finally raised the green flag on its upcoming life simulation game, Spore (PC, Nintendo Wii, DS, Mac, and Mobile), and is ready to ship the much awaited title by next month. The company earlier announced that Spore has finally gone gold is now currently in the manufacturing process. The PC and Mac version is slated to arrive in North America by September 7, with its Nintendo DS spin-off Spore Creatures also available on the same day. Spore Origins on the iPhone will be released slightly ahead of the pack, with copies of the game already out by September 4.
Executive producer Lucy Bradshaw had some positive remarks regarding the game, saying:
We are so excited to finally get Spore into the hands of fans and players. The Maxis studio has had an absolute blast creating Spore, but the fun is just beginning. The most engaging stories are truly the ones people create themselves, and we can't wait to see how players not only craft and explore the Spore universe, but hear what stories they have to tell as a result.
In addition, game creator Will Wright even expressed ideas of a movie and television tie-in for Spore in the future. He mentioned that "Spore potentially has a wider net to cast [outside of video games] than The Sims did".
