Over at CNET, their Top 20 Most Wanted Products for the week ending April 22 just got published. Much to say, the top four seem to echo who really are on the spotlight of the gaming and gadget world. Of course, charts and figures will always show different things, depending on the people who answer the polls or whatnot. Here's the lowdown on CNET's own list though.
The PlayStation 3 is finally on the top spot. Compared to last week's spot on the fifth, that's a big bump up, so much so that it brought the Nintendo Wii down the ladder by one rung. Yeah, the Wii was king of the hill last week (and reigned king uninterruptedly ever since March 25), but the PS3 somehow managed to catch up and finally take the throne. The Xbox Elite, on the other hand, is slowly and steadily on the rise, from last week's Top 4 to this week's Top 3. Just four weeks in the charts, and the Elite has already achieved the third spot. Quite a feat in itself.
On to gadgets though, we're not surprised to find the Apple iPhone snuck up there. While it had second place last week, guess the march of the consoles brought it down to the fourth spot. The notable thing about this item on the list is that, while it continuously jumps up and down a few spots every week, it's pretty much consistent and never left the Top 5 ever since it debuted on the list (debuted on the Top, no less) on January 14!

I've been to 20 stores looking for a wii.... and do you know what I found out.... Every Store has 5 PS3 systems.. but no one wants to buy it......... no one has a wii..
Well, I am sorry that you cannot find Wii everywhere.
But in my area (living in Nowheresville) there is quite lotta of Wii left, esp PS3 too.
Also in case if you interesting, 360 HD-DVD selling for $45 in my Walmart, which no-one buy it for many months.
Maybe it is just a poor area, but luckily I can afford.

Sold 600,000 in Europe... it's a lie. 125,000 on launch.. it's a lie. 20,000+ on AUssie launch... it's a lie. Motorstorm and Resistance stint on top of charts... it's a lie. Blu Ray beating HDDVD... it's a lie. anything good about the PS3 is a lie... it just couldn't be possible!!!

This list is just people saying what they want the most, not what they're going to buy. Big difference

it's called forecasting. and trust me people/companies do care about it and it does say something.
why is the ps3 no 1 if nobody wants it?
Well its the best next gen. console ofcourse everybody wants one, but not everybody can afford the best.
i got a ps3, 360 and the wii and they all have there pro's and con's some more than others dont see the need for the new 360 it will only be on par with the ps3 but that is my thoughts
The Elite is already at number 3 ?, its going to be a much bigger seller than anyone imagined, and with the PS3 sales down to 10,925 (-17%) in Japan, it looks like the Xbox is and the Wii are going to take the market....

Don't most wanted products have anything to do with customer demand? Pre orders for the 360 elite are selling out, and the Wii has been sold out almost everywhere since launch. PS3s sit on shelves for months.
Well, it certainly makes sense that the PS3 is the most wanted. No one wants to buy it now because of the price tag and the lack of games.
I certainly place the PS3 at the top spot of my most wanted, but no way in hell I'm buying one right now.
My 360 will do just fine for now.
Do what I did - wait for all the PS3 owners to get bored of the $600 60GB purchase. ^^
I picked mine up for $500 from the store - it was returned by someone who was frustrated that there were no *new* games other than motorstorm for it - lol. Everything else PS3 has to offer seems to have been out for 360 for ages now. Boooring....
So check out the "returns" section of your favorite compu/electronic outlet and pick up a lightly used PS3 for less. =D
Want all you want but I will get the Elite on Launch day and have a huge selection of AAA games as well....
You must be JOKING !!!, why on earth would I want to pay $500 for a SECOND HAND PS3 that has no games when soon I will be able to buy the 360 Elite for $479 or less which already has enourmours amount of big very playable games(especiall y on Live) and a very large list of big games coming out THIS year starting with Forza 2 in a few weeks..........
the Wii and PS3 are the most wanted consoles in the U.S. everyone wants a PS3 but right now its just a bit expensive for the average person, where did you get that no one wants a PS3? forums and comments in websites like this? hahaha

Ps3 sales have dropped in japan by 17%, in Europe by 80%, and its still doing very lack luster sales in the US and Canada.
This is nothing more than spin to hype the console.

I cant beleve that you dont understand why people think this is false. With all of Sonys underhanded marketing gimics, fasle hype and downright lies about system specs. Then there lies the consumer Electronics Expo about how bluray has won. Sorry, but the only thing good i still beleve about sony, is that there TVs still kick ass.
Lol Mate you have a lot to learn. I work in Gamestation in the UK and I have lots of people (and I mean lots) everyday asking ''when is the PS3 going down in price?'' this shows to me that the PS3 is in demand but nobody can afford it at the moment.
lol you actually believe this in your little world dont you? You read blogs such as these and make your own assumuptions. You should try working in the REAL world which I do (I work in Gamestation). Everyday I have people always asking about the PS3 more than any other console. It is and will always be the most anticipated console for a few years the only problem is its price. Sure the Wii gets a lot of mention and sales but I can tell you the PS3 has a lot more demand but the average consumer cant afford it at the moment.
Many of my co-workers have all agreed that Microsoft is making a mistake with the Xbox 360 Elite. Pricing it at an expected £349.99 in the UK is going to open up the next generation war wounds again. As rumours are flying about at the moment that the PS3 is seeing a £40 price cut making it only £380 in the UK. And with this being more in demand than the 360 and the 360 having dropped the core system then the PS3 looks a lto more appealing towards the consumer.
Basically more people are going to buy the PS3 in time and it is inevitable. Even kids now who can't get it at the moment will substitute their gaming with the Wii and the 360 but with another console that they all recogisn on the market it will be in demand once its price goes down. This December (and we do plan ahead a lot) is going to hopefully be a shared Christmas for both the 360 and the Wii but the main console seller is predicted to be the PS3.
A low price is as much a feature as 512mb RAM or a multi core processor. It is a feature the PS3 does not have. If you look at the overall picture, the PS3 is a poor value. That is why its sales do not meet sony's expectations.

So you think the 360 is as good as the ps3. If the Xbox 360 was the same price the ps3, the ps3 would be the only one out of the two worth the value.
The ps3 is well worth the value; ps3 still owns the Xbox 360 elite. More features in the ps3.

Microsoft do nothing, they don't innovate spend millions on new fresh technology or offer any new innovative products they just get a box put pc parts in slap Xbox on copy and paste Xbox live onto the 360.
Then after they realise, 'o, we left this this this and this never mind we'll just give them add-ons'
double the value, make it seem as good the competition, but there still behind so they make another sku but this sku still isn't as good as the competition, and all current Xbox 360 owners are getting *the worse deal, and then they make it look like the competition, like they'll fool anyone.
And they wouldn't be able to use or rely on HDD in their games or hdmi (1.2) which isn't even as good as the competition! (1.3)

Its nothing to do with the charts I think you find that our company gets more information about the consoles than this website. Only 20% of gamers actually use websites like these and look into all your details about how good a console is in the graphic department. The other 80% just go out and buy a console and that is what all the people who speak to me everyday want. They all want the PS3 and they havn't saved up because they dont care about specs they just want a cheap console but because playstation is still the generation they want to upgrade their ps2 for a ps3.
You people are kidding urselves if you think the ps3 is going to get a price cut anytime soon. I'm guessing christmas 2008 at the EARLIEST. Price cut in the UK? Did they not just release the ps3 in the middle of march? Gimme a break. Every ps3 sold is losing tons of money for sony. They are not going to compound the problem by losing even more money when it has only been a couple of months since it's been released.
I can get a 360 for $400. Sony has cut their $500 model so now if I want a ps3 it is $600. Sure the ps3 with all of the extras is a better value IF YOU WANT THE EXTRAS THEY ARE GIVING U. What if you don't want the extras, tuff-luck says sony. I don't want blu-ray and I don't want wi-fi. Make the ps3 without those things and give the owners hdmi cables so I can play the thing for $400. I would then own a 360 along with a ps3.
