Microsoft - Image 1A lot of people in the gaming circuit have already made up their minds on the question of which gaming company is the most innovative of them all. However, it's a different take in the eyes of business executives around the world as Business Week conducted a survey on which companies did the most to bring new products that made sense to consumers.

Apple led the bunch with a comfortable margin over second-placer Google. As far as game-related enterprises are concerned, Microsoft led the way. It was fifth on the overall standings by virtue of software advances. Amazingly, there was no mention of games in the explanation.

Sony was at the tenth spot powered by its new PlayStation 3 console. The magazine says that it took gaming technology to the next level by transforming the game system series into a gateway to a virtual world. The reference was probably aimed at the PlayStation Home system, but hey, hasn't that been done by Second Life and Miis by Nintendo already?

Nintendo lagged behind at the 39th spot with its independence from sequels and its ability to appeal to all age groups.Yes, we know what you're thinking. Go ahead and post them in the comments section.

hmm... your calling others fanboys when your the first person to post a comment that includes fanboyish behavior... wow. Just when I thought you couldn't get any more retarded. Also... I like how you openly admitted you are a homosexual... because you did 'post' after yourself.... and you said the 'post' below you is gay... and well. Hmm.. and by your logic... its the "Gaystation 3"... so you indeed must like it.

» the Power of the Dollar...

its simple..

even if not paid by Microsoft,Busin ess week will rank Microsft higher because its an American Company

the truth that Everyone must understand and realize...is that Sony is paying the price of been Japanese

if Sony was an american Company the Media would never bring it down, but it is Because the PS3 is coming from those "Asians" that is the root of the problem

this never was about the price..

this never was about the games..

the american media doesnt care about games, technolog y as gamers may do,they know that there are 2 products...one is american the other is japanese

they feel that "patriotism" forces them to bring down the japanese enemy product, regardl ess of its been superior or inferior or games or anything

at first...they used to praise the Wii to seem unbiased, and they never though of the Wii as a direct competitor to their american product, the 360

but now that the Wii [which is also japanese] is flying in sales.....it scored 39th in innovation

plain and simple, the media will favour microsoft even if they offer an Atari 2600 system for 2000$

its important to say is thats how the "Media" not gamers who think that way, even though many gamers are starting to think that way.....the Media view things differently

this is all abouy bringing down a Japanese product in an Industry that is worth Billions and possibly will be the biggest of all due the addictive nature of software

bottom-line....bring the ps3 down since its japanese, praise the Wii [the indirect competition] to seem neutral

but the Wii is selling Massively.....its time to bring it Down

Let the Brain-washing by the Media Begins..........

» What a stupid and pointless rant!

This isn't specifically about games/consoles, it's not ranking the companies based upon the games market, it's about the companies OVERALL and the innovation they bring to their respective MARKETS. Microsoft is not just about the 360, Sony are not just about the PS3! Even at number 1, Apple are not just about the iPod.

So quit the conspiracy theories and complaints that everyone is against the Japanese, as the article says "we surveyed senior executives worldwide to develop our list".

If you can't understand what this article is about, then you and some of the others here should shut up, read the link, and realise that there's a world out there beyond gaming. :|

Business week knows squat about innovation.

» Sounds Like...

Someone begging for some brownie points. Also what do they mean by Nintendo's "independence from sequels" when they have the largest number of sequels out there with games like Mario and Pokemon. It sounds like a bunch of nobodies who never plays games are giving their input without looking any further. These kind of people are a waste and need fired.

It's talking about innovation in BUSINESS not gaming.

by jimmy - 2007-05-05 11:02
» Mostly a correct, but pointless rant

Like someone else said, the ratings are for innovative BUSINESS MODELS, ie the entire company, their products, how they design their products, the way the company is run, their efficiency, everything. You focused only on products, which is not what the Business Week article is about.

If the article was solely about companies and their products, you would be spot on. But it's not
