ATTN UK folks: UMD movies for £6.99

After all the good deals on PSP accessories for US customers, we thought we'd give our European readers something to shout about too.

Play.com(uk) are offering UMD movies from as little as £6.99 as part of their Easter sale, along with free delivery. Prices of titles such as Robots, The day after tomorrow, and 28 days later have been slashed from £17.99 to just £6.99. This recent price crash may be a tactical move in order to shift UMD stock, due to the poor sales and the crisis Sony's portable movie format has found itself in, after the UMD movie format was dropped by Wal-mart and Universal pictures.

But the Play.com Easter deals don't stop at UMD movies. A variety of PSP related products have also had their prices slashed, including games such as WWE:Smackdown Vs Raw 2006, and prices of accessories such as Datel's WiFi Max being slashed to £17.99, just one month before it's rival, Thrustmasters' FunAccess WiFi key is due for launch.

This is old news i posted on some forums months ago - prices of UK UMDs came down about 2 Months back online and in shops - Play.com have had Robots and a few otehrs at £6.99 since the price drop. It has nothing to do with their easter sale dispite what they may say

# Not cutting it because of the UMD fallGuest 2006-04-05 05:55
I've used play for ages, before the PSP came out. The WiFi max and UMD's have always been that price. I got the wifi max from them last year at that price and the UMD prices haven't changed for months. (Obviously I havent bought any UMD movies, its still cheaper for the DVD, but I do get the DVD from them.)

# Robots region 2Guest 2006-04-05 08:21
This title works on my Jap white psp no problem a long with all my other region 2 UK titles.

Did you ever upgrade your firmware with one downloaded from the net?, chances are you got a US version firmware that would change your region code to 1.

A host of titles require you to upgrade your firmware to the latest ver before they will run..
