Prince of Persia movie new footage released, Bruckheimer defends Gyllenhaal choice: he's handsome

It's not everyday that we get fresh film footage for the up and coming film adaptation of Ubisoft's Prince of Persia video game, that's why we're leaning more towards welcoming this video interview with Jerry Bruckheimer, that also brings some sneak peek of the movie in development.

What is interesting to note, though, is that the fans sure are very stringent in their character selection process. Apparently, some do not agree that Jake Gyllenhaal looks "Prince of Persia"-ny enough to fit the role.

So what exactly does he bring to the film, according to Bruckheimer? He didn't help any better as he responded: "Weeeell... he's very handsome... and he's in good shape."

Check out 0:25 mark for the complete LOLs.

Oh yeah, and the new footage shows Dastan duking it out with armed men in crowded streets -- think Mummy Returns with Brendan Frasier, only this one's set in Persia not in Egypt, and it's Jake Gyllenhaal not Brendan Frasier.

» if joker doesn't show up...

I think he'll be fine ;) I was hoping for the guy who play the tribesman in Mummy... Or the S.T.A.R. officer in RE2 the movie. I would love to see him as the Prince.. but I forgot his name.

I for one think he was a good choice. He looks a lot like the Prince, so go for it. Heck, the movie will be bad anyway, like all game-based movies, so why ake a big deal out fo it?

Carlos Olivera(Oded Fehr)from the R.E. movies and Ardeth Bay(Oded Fehr)from the Mummy movies are the same person.

Donnie Darko was predicatable and dumb as heck. You can say that his acting was the only thing in the movie that was interesting.

» Hm

He is a talented actor but that can't save a bad movie. I'm keeping my expectations very low for this movie. I don't know what kind of direction they're aiming for with it but from the footage it looks really really boring.

As with all film adaptations of games keep your expectations as low as you possibly can and you wont be let down. Look at Legend of Chun Li and keep that in your mind every time you think "I wanna see the Prince of Persia movie"
