Is it out already? I also wonder if such a simple playing collection will require an upgrade. If it does, then Sony just won the a-hole company award of the year for forcing every game company out there to include their stupid upgrades in their games.

...Not sure I understand what you mean by upgrade?...you mean by making this game require firmware 2.xx whatever?

if thats the case then....Duh. Every game coming out with require highger firmwares no matter if it uses the new features in the firmware or not.

thats just how things are.

firmware updates... THEY DO NOTHING that benefit the GAMEs!!! they are just cosmetic!!! the PSP has not gained any SUPER GAME capability from SONY updates!!!

GREAT POST... Decent sized pictures... Maximum news information, minimal space wasted... WELL DONE!!!

Yes...that's how whack things are...See, SONY will force the upgrade even if a simple game like this doesn't really need it to be able to run...I honestly realy don't think any of the games in this collection has to run on more than version 1.00 or higher than 222mhz, so why the upgrade? Because SONY doesn't believe in gaming freedom. Yeah, they don't want people playing their ripped games, I can understand that it hurts their market and sales, but I think it's really stupid that they keep closing the doors to homebrew more tightly with each new upgrade that comes along.
In my personal opinion, they should allow the PSP hardware to freely accept homebrew, and make some kind of application in the firmware that will immediately reject any sort of piracy you try to play on your PSP ( but I'm not talking about emulation for already old consoles, only current game ISOS and such ). Just my two cents.

Sony PSP 1.50 - Check
MAME EMU - Check
All of the above games + more for nix - Check.
Flipping $ony the bird - Priceless.

This is one reason why sony wants to close down homebrew, because a lot of the recent releases are remakes of old games that you can currently get for nothing with a decent emu or a little homebrew genius from the community.

With the real lack of quality, original games on the PSP of late, I have absolutely no inclination to update nor do I have any qualms about using my homebrew and EMUs to play these games for nothing.

Whilst there are some that say we should push to support the new stuff otherwise we'll have another Dreamcast on our hands, I'll happily argue back that unless there's a slew of original games for the PSP that are more than simply 1980's remakes then I'm not losing a damn thing by not updating at all.

What's the point of forking out $40 for a game which is the same thing as I play now for nothing - with a few graphical upgrades?

Pulese!

I've been gaming for over 20 damn years and have to say that apart from a few gems, most of the commercial games for the PSP of late are utter rubbish or just rehashes with updated graphics and simply not worth losing my homebrew and EMUs for.

The difference between this and the emu versions is that you can play multiplayer - those of us with friends will love it! It's not a bad selection of games; not bad for a portable console at all.

If 2.0 firmware is required (and only one tool thinks it is) it will be for the wireless networking. You CAN still play homebrew on 2.0 - just use Fanjita's eboot loader! The only thing you CAN'T do is play ISOs, you cheap bastards!

If you can't find a good game released recently try GTA:LSC, SOCOM or SW:Battlefront 2!

Hurm

To #4 Sony's market is NOT being hurt by homebrew, that is the biggest heap of ***** I have heard and one of the biggest urban legends being bandied about out there. The reason Sony is running out of money is because of their stupidly ridiculous level of paranoia related to everything they do - Homebrew on a PSP is awesome, and until they started putting dumbass levels of security on it, people were HAPPY with the platform - it could do some damn impressive things. Then sony started releasing new firmwares. Under the guise of "crucial updates". Piss on that, what have they given us that we didn't already have? People soon discovered what their game was - the new firmware created basically uncrackable security - no more homebrew!! Oh, and might i add, no more updates.... til someone released a downgrader for 2.00. Then all of a sudden there's a 2.01 upgrade. Then a 2.5/2.6. Then fanjita and ditlew came along, cracked it and made homebrew (albeit crippled due to no kernel mode and no access to the ME). Then all of a sudden there's a 2.7 upgrade!! And guess what? Tighter security. No more homebrew. Sony are killing themselves - owners of the Nintendo DS are laughing because Nintendo recognise that the ability to create your own software and games on a platform is something that will BOOST their sales. Sony on the other hand, think everyone is out to steal their ***** (while, ironically, they're busy trying to steal everyone elses *****). So don't tell me sony's sales are hurting due to piracy/homebrew. They're doing it to themselves. To #6 As i said to #4, yes we get homebrew (I'm a 2.01 owner... boy was I pissed off.) but we don't have access to kernel mode (we only get cruddy user mode - no access to hardware >:O ) and we can't use the Media Engine (unless someone releases a downgrader for 2.01+, which they won't in my lifetime - 128bit encryption is basically uncrackable). So don't go saying that having 2.01+ isn't that bad - I can't emulate SNES, SMS or Genesis at any playable level (it runs slow as crap and crashes at a moments notice), and I can't emulate MAME, Atari, Amiga, or GBA at ALL. So life isn't all that great for 2.01+ owners. I'm just glad people like fanjita and ditlew are prepared to put in hard work to make life for 2.01+ owners livable :P My opinion on Midway Arcade Treasures is this - MK 1 2 and 3 rock, but due to button-mapping issues you can't fight Smoke in mk2 (or so I've heard) plus there are graphical glitches and they are far from "arcade perfect". I'd rather emulate.
