Metal Gear Solid: coming to a theatre near you - Image 1

Just a couple of days ago, Yair Landau announced that Sony Pictures is working on the Metal Gear Solid movie. Now to support that is a report from Hollywood Reporter about Columbia Pictures is currently negotiating getting the rights to MGS.

Don't get confused. Columbia Pictures is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Anyway, Michael De Luca will be producing and Hideo Kojima himself will act as executive producer for the movie. The production team also includes Sony's Doug Belgrad and Sam Dickerman, Josh Bratman (who introduced the project to the company), and Rick Privman of JEA will also executive produce.

As the MGS series have spawned numerous merchandise (comic books, action figures, and guides), it's really no surprise that the movie would be most anticipated. The only thing we have to think about now is when will the movie be released.

And the bigger question... Who will play Solid Snake?

» David hayter

I don't know what he looks like, but I still wish it was David hayter playing the character. He's been the American voice of Snake since forever, anyway.

Yeah Hayter Rocked in guyver 2. He should definitely play snake. I think he could pull it off easily, especially since he's the american voice actor for Snake

"And the bigger question... Who will play Solid Snake?"

the 3D movie with play Solid Snake

Damn, why ppl are stupid to use real people, it will not be that good if they use real people ( THE VOICE, SENARIO, Weather, Time, and FACE will suck if they use real people)

» HONG KONG STYLE

It dosn't matter who plays Snake, as log as they over dub with David's voice

by Paulbocio - 2007-02-10 04:43
» Got It!

Kurt Russel would make an awesome Solid Snake. I also think if you put enough facial hair on Michael Madsen, he'd play enough "bad ass" to fill in Snake's shoes.

by lightweaponx - 2007-02-10 04:51
» kurt russel is a great idea except

he's too old! Viggo Mortenson(?) looks close to Snake except he kinda has a deer in headlights look about him. Hideo even went on record saying he wouldn't mind Viggo playing Snake.

» fix analog stick

hey guys ive just found out how to fix the psp analog stick if you have the problem when your analog stick keeps pressing down sometimes the check your psp faceplate just under the analog stick if its slighty or in anyway coming apart thats the problem so if you have this problem just push it together (quite hard) and the screw closest under the analog stick on the back screw it in so it pulls the faceplate and the psp more together

any probs get back to me

by mr e - 2007-02-10 06:20
» well...

Since Solid Snake is a character inspired by the Snake character of Escape from New York, I think Kurt Russel should at least have a small role in the movie. If the movie isnt going to be CG then someone who isnt that famous could be better.

by EATAKRACKER - 2007-02-10 06:47
» ooo yes

I've been waiting for this ever since I finished the first MGS on PSone...so happy.

by lavino - 2007-02-10 07:06

Voice actors usually can't act.. so do most Hollywood actors ;)

aragon from the lord of the rings i dont know the name

by LordOfTheStrings - 2007-02-10 07:27
» Obviously...

Obviously, none of you have seen pictures of David Hayter. He looks absolutely nothing like Snake, and he never will, regardless of costumes and stuff.

Kurt Russell would be good too though.

by Dnaiel - 2007-02-10 07:28
» yup

hugh jackman shuold be solid snake he is the perfect size and he kind of talks like snake. I definitely agree

» Lol

He allready does. In my opinion though it should be CG, then they can be more to the point with charactors. BUt they should do CG like final fantasy that would look cool.

by ShockD - 2007-02-10 10:41
» Who will play Snake?

Obviously Tom Cruise.

by WeApOn - 2007-02-10 11:17
» YES.

Amazing. Sean Bean should.

by Raphtile - 2007-02-10 11:56

» the next big question.....

Will it be a good movie. most movies based off of video games are really pee-u! So, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I HOPE ITS GOOD LIKE THE GAMES!!!!!!! anyone agree?

by Kris Wightwick - 2007-02-11 00:18
» YES!

Yep, i totally agree! and besides Hugh Jackman is past his peek, too old to play snake, and Sean Bean can't act for *****, he can't do the accent. David has been Snake for as long as I can remember, I am sure most people who love and play MGS have now associated David's voice with Snake, it would be wrong not to cast him, or atleast have his voice, otherwise it would kind of make the film a bit *****.

For those who don't know what David Hayter looks like... http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0501/17/hayterth.jpg

by Aces In The Palm - 2007-02-11 01:04
» yes

i agree totally

by Dodo - 2007-02-11 02:56
» ..

It depends on what age they show Snake. I like the first two suggestions, Huge Jackman and Sean Bean, coz they both have a rugged look... Kurt Rusell is too old.... Eric Bana? I don't think so... I wonder who could play Old Snake?

by me - 2007-02-11 05:15
» Picture it.

The one who plays Sawyer on "Lost".

» hmm

Even though he's not in it.. Sean Connery for Big Boss!

wasn't the PS-era Snake based off Christopher Walken and Jean Claude Van Dam?

by EFNY - 2007-02-12 14:14
» EFNY

If anyone has ever seen Escape from New York (MGS is pretty much based on that movie) the they will know that Kurt Russel is the way to go. Only thing is that in that movie he had long hair, so unless he'd cut it, he would look more like liuquid.
