Metal Gear Solid is ready for Hollywood |

Finally, in an interview in the Japanese Radio show for Konami, Hide-chan Radio, Kojima confirms that MGS will be turned into a Hollywood movie. Now, from a game that was inspired from Kurt Russel's Escape from New York and LA series, comes a movie that might even outshine old Snake Pliskin. According to this interview, the movie will be in English and definitely Hollywood-made. Since this is a game that has taken pride in its cinematic quality and sounds, the movie might be no different compared to playing the game. It is even possible that the movie might come short of what many have expected. Many questions came about, but in the end, the only thing that Kojima could answer was that he still couldn't tell us all the details about the film and the best that we could really do, is wait.
With Kurt Russel already past the prime of his years, he's definitely not in line to play the guy inspired from his old role. Then again, who is left to play our tactical covert op spy, Solid Snake? Will this movie live up to the game's success? In an interview with David Hayter before, Christian Bale seems interested in playing Snake. We've seen Hollywood bastardize many of our favorite games. Hopefully, they will take care of this one, perhaps using the same things that made Kojima think of creating Metal Gear to begin with. I'm sure, Kojima will take care of this project very carefully. Until then, all we have to do, is wait.

This movie is going to suck. I can see it now....
My dreams have come true.... I have long awaited a MGS movie.... God this is gonna be great... If done right... Which means staying away from cheasy actors and crap storylines which don't compliment the game at all... I can see Christian Bale being a young snake.... Like PS1 MGS Snake... That could be manipulated quite well... Kurt Russel would be cool to be like Cambell or have some kind of Cameo appearance in the movie... But not to sure about that... Could be done in a crap way... I dunno... I hope Hollywood doesn't ruin this movie... Because it has the potential to be kick ass...

I am glad to hear they're making a Metal Gear Solid movie. However, I don't want a certain director working on this one (no need to mention a name on that one haha). I hope Hollywood doesn't screw it up, either.
It's what I've been waiting for all my life.....but are we ready to make it, this has both the greatest potential for an asome movie and also the easiest to F up. the tension up to the moives debute is going to kill me.
It be great if UWE BOLLE got to direct this movie! He made the best game-movie movies ever...

OMG dis is gonna b awesome, just imagine kevin spacy as Snake and nicolas Cage as liquid, yeah i know u think im a kook but i can dream cant i. But honestly, dude 6 is right, dis can be an awesome movie or a complete ***** up, i just hope it has a big director like peter jackson mainly or worse comes to worst, steven spielberg. Although it wudnt be a dissapointment if it done by such directors who did films like face off or the rock or con air. Ye si know all these films have mr cage init but i assure you thats all a coincidence. But i have to say ill be on top of the world if kojima himself directs it, but that seems unlikly since he dosnt speaka anya english. But it would be great if he wrote the script and got the same people who translate the game to translate the script, at the end of the day, who knows snake more then his daddy, although this might also back fire and kojima may end up having a messed up cooky plot or worse yet, not have Snake in the movie as the main hero, either way i have a feeling where doomed. Still, theres always Ghost Rider coming 2007 (yes that has mr cage init, still a coincidence).

This is disappointing but wont hurt the games I dont think.
You cant capture MGS into a film. Its playing it, sneaking that makes the game.
Hiding behind crates, moving the cam, dashing to trees and grass to hide only to jump out and pull a body back in.
The cut scenes are great and make MGS complete but they are really only stepping stones. fantastic stones non the less

Looking at all game to film adaptation we've seen one thing. They mostly all suck except for one. yep, Silent Hill. Silent Hill game > film was perhaps the best game to film transistion to date. It wasn't all that, don't get me wrong but never the less it was decent better then decent.....it was good. what links Silent Hill to Metal Gear Solid? We'll if anyone doesn't know its Konami. Konami understand what it takes to make a good film and won't want to disappoint millions of fans by selling it to the highest bidder (shown before when Cruise wanted rights to Silent Hill)
Sides, This is Kojima's baby. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to direct it himself with the help of Ryuhei Kitamura (Versus, Azumi, etc)
I agree with jonaid... I am sure Kojima will work heavily with the production studio.... I think on the Kojima Productions site or on a MGS dvd or something he said that he always wanted to make movies... or something... and thats why cut scenes in MGS aren't cheap... They really pack a punch and have meaning... So yeah... Kojima and Konami won't just let some cheap director turn out a piece of crap... And Hugh Jackman would make a pretty good Snake.... He could probably do a pretty decent Snake voice too... So hopefully this movie will be done with the skill and care that went into Silent Hill.... Awesome movie... Wasn't big on the games... But played some... Was still a great movie none the less...
I just hope they don't screw this up like they did with Bloodrayne, Resident Evil, etc.
I'm highly hoping that Uwe Bowl is kidnaped and raped so he won't screw this up.
I never wanted a MGS movie - hell, the games itself are like a movie - but at least if it is any good maybe i'll see it sometime.
And God of War is also in the works, I'm eager abut that one.

Intresting. There was this one "Batman, The Animated Series" where Bruce Wayne goes on a mission out in the desert or something, and he wasn't wearing the Bat suit, but rather some infiltration-friendly threads. I remember thinking "omfg, Bruce Wayne IS Solid Snake!!"
With this in mind, i kind of find the prospect of CB taking the role as Snake to be a forfillment of this fulfillment of my little fantasy.
That's not to say that the film would be good.
Honestly, I think this film would be better as a full CGI feature, kinda like the FF movies. Kojima Productions could take point, and make sure that the film doesn't gut the concept of the games.
Covert infiltration drama + super natural events on Hollywoods watch? There are SOOOO many ways this can go wrong.
Metal gear solid movie.....Well it's a long coming, and i aint suprised.
Many games are turning into movies these days from splinter cell to prince of persia. I hope metal gear solid turns out to be good. I hope HUGH JACKMAN will play solid snake because he cleary looks more like solid snake than any other hollywood actor. Metal gear solid has now joined the list as one of the greatest games to turn in to a movie.

I absolutly agree, I think Christian Bale is a good actor but he doesn't look "good" enough to be the Snake as in the game
I think christian bale looks more like solid snake in mgs 1 for psone but on mgs 2 & 3 hugh jackman is the most look alike. I think christian bale looks some what 81% to snake but hugh jackman looks 95% percent to snake.

Hideo Kojima is a genius no doubt, but you can't help noticing that he is a bit of a bisexual. Don't get me wrong Metal Gear Solid is one wicked game but there are a few stupid and gay thing on mgs, don't you think.
If they make a movie i hope they dont make it gayish, because hardcore MGS fans like me dont' believe in gay rights. I think Hideo has a fetish for white men with blue eyes, i wouldn't like to meet that man ever.

The Japanese male society on a whole is somewhat more feminine than the society here in the states. Hideo is a genius, no doubt. Then again, just because the Metal Gear series have always featured a ultra-masculine hero and serious plot *or plot twists if you prefer*, that doesn't mean Hideo can't have a little fun poking gay jokes at Raiden. Besides, I don't believe there's anything wrong with that, having Raiden and Raiden alone was the single reason why many people felt that MGS2 felt incomplete. Certainly, Hideo's not American and so the cultural clash is somewhat at a disadvantage on his end. Poking fun at gay people is the same in every culture: funny. Try watching some top Japanese comedy, and you won't get the jokes have the time. Honestly.

I would like to see the new version of MSG4 which takes place in the Middle East. Perhaps do a take of the "Godfather" (movie 1) and reflect on his previous missions as a young snake. I do not think there are any current actors that can play a very good young snake as the lead. However, I do some actors that could play an older snake which would would open the door for the younger actor to enter. If the movie is a success then the younger actor can take the lead in the next movie. Hideo is a good strategist, and I am sure he will wait as as long as it takes to make it right.
Possibly, David Carradine as an old snake. Did pretty good in Kill Bill and he has the martial arts down.
