Konami Announces Street Supremacy for the PSP |
Konami of Europe has announced it is to launch Street Supremacy, a multi-player racing game, specifically developed by Genki for PSP.
Due for release in March 2006, Street Supremacy is a high-octane racing title featuring a wealth of licensed vehicles. The game is a team-based racer wherein players partake in 'five against five' knockout tournaments in one player mode or can use the PSP's wireless abilities to compete against a second player. In the two-player mode, players select a vehicle and race against the second player in a battle to be first past the winning post. The game's 'Team Battle' mode, however, ups the ante considerably and sets a fiercely competitive challenge.
Street Supremacy's 'Team Battle' mode divides the game map into 15 areas, with teams vying to dominate the game map. The battles are further split into individual races between the different Teams and individual racers, with points awarded for each victory. Players can then judge who to select against specific rivals, cherry-picking their rivals from the player roster as they look to seize territories. The 'Team Battle' also encourages competition within each team, as winning racers are upgraded in their side's rankings and become more instrumental in helping secure areas of the game map.
In addition to Street Supremacy's stunning racing action, the PSP game's cars can also be modified to give you an edge in the races. The game's authentically modelled Nissans, Mitsubishis and Subarus can all be enhanced with new exhausts, engine upgrades and body kits. These all prove vital in shaving seconds off the lap times, while stickers and fancy lights can be used to enhance the car's aesthetics, adding a layer of gloss to an already entertaining PSPTM racer.
Street Supremacy will be released for PSPTM in March 2006.

This reminds me: WHERE THE HELL IS GRAN TURISMO MOBILE??!?!?!
This game seems to be the occidental version of the japanese game "Shutoku Battle Zone of Control"....
yes it does! cause i have that game!
IT IS Shutoku Battle series.
It's called 'Tokyo Xtreme Racers' in the States and guess it's called Street Supremacy in Europe.
I am a big fan of the series (out of every single racing games out there) and was disappointed after finishing it in couple days.
Graphic looks great (try 'rear view' while you are racing... your car looks freakingly awesome) and you will go wow. They did a nice touch on interface/menu and music is catch. They also brought licensed car, except Honda (well, they do have NSX-looking car with no emblem)
However, this game is plagued with loading time AND easy difficulty when you compare with previous Shutoku Battle series.
Previous series let you drive freely, anywhere, anytime, however, this one doesn't let you drive freely which does affect even gameplay (it does affect gameplay because it only let you race against your rival within the designated area, meaning that whoever gets to the end of the highway first wins the battle regardless of your 'bar' which does reduce the series' trade mark of 'energy bar'-like battle tension.
Team Battle gotta be the most refreshing idea, which has evolved from lastest PS2 version, however, loading is just insane and it does kill the tension of racing.
I don't know man, I hope they would restore level of difficulty from first Shutoku for Dreamcast- seriously, this game would've been a great one despite of loading time if they raised the difficulty more. The series has evolved considerably in a good way, however, they should've kept the challenging factor...
Anyway, desipte of my complaint, you will love this game if you love Shutoku Battle series. Let's just cross fingers that European version (or hopefully US version) fixes few problmes such as easy difficulty and perhaps loading time.
Great....
Another street racing game... aren't there enough of these?
id buy it just because it has a Skyline R34
