PSP Updates gets a facelift, and is hiring bloggers! |

We have been developing a custom CMS (Content Management System) back end for many months now, and we are proud to say that it is finally complete! We can add as many features to this new CMS as we want, so we are no longer restricted by Blogger's limited featureset. So expect to see many new site features added in the coming weeks -- such as a completely revamped comments system, User Favorite Articles, Top News Hounds, multi-language support, and much more -- to make the QJ.net blogs much more robust.
Along with the new CMS we decided it was time for all our blogs to ditch our old layouts and designs and upgrade to something better. There are still some small bugs, but we'll be polishing them out ASAP (still have to re-categorize all 4600 articles!).
Be sure to check out our other blogs. A list of them can be found on the sidebar column to the right of this post. Also, expect to see more and more blogs opened up on QJ.net on a variety of topics. What kind of stuff are you in to besides PSP? Comment below and let us know what you think of the new layout, along with what new blogs you would like to see on QJ.net.
Additionally, if you are interested in hiring on as a paid blogger for QJ.NET on the PSP blog (or on any other blog), head over and apply by clicking "Apply to Blog for QJ" on the column to the right. We are looking for experienced writers and bloggers who can bring a unique, knowledgeable, insightful, and witty writing style.

The layout looks fine, and unless you contribute something to the site regularly, it doesn't really matter what you think.

Also, if we applied before but never heard back, should we just keep waiting?

Add some more images in between the posts, and for god f**k sakes take away the ads! I paid/am still paying for the ads on PSPU to be gone, and now you introduce to me a bad looking new layout with a badly made 3d psp and broken images and a buggy login system and all kinds of bugs, and i get ads along with it all!! Im not sure if im going to be using PSPU anymore, and im canceling my subscription as soon as i submit this comment....

those are two clicks mind you, so much work.

Hahahaha.
Yeah, because posting behind a username removes your anonymity from the internet.
What stupidity.

And it makes Opera 8.52 crash, and Opera being the strictest in terms of Web Standards...this means bad coding.
It's not even Valid HTML 4.0 Transitional and brings up 467 errors... (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fpspupdates.qj.net%2F)

1. The site will have pictures just like it used to. The pictures from older articles are still being transferred over.
2. The are currently occasional bugs with logging in and posting comments. This will soon be fixed.
3. Doesn't work in Opera - will soon be fixed.
4. Premium Members are currently seeing ads, but that will also soon be fixed, hopefully in the next build release on Tuesday.
5. As for the visual aspects of the layout, they will constantly go through changes. The way it is right now is not final. This is a BIG change for PSPU to go through, and it will take time to get everything sorted out and looking its best. Yes, there are bugs. Yes, there are visual things that just don't look right (no division between articles, color contrast, text size, etc). All I can say is BE PATIENT!
If you don't like the way things are, then provide CONSTRUCTIVE feedback on how to make it better. Just think, this is your chance to help influence the way your favorite PSP news site looks! Making comments like "*****IN SUCKS *****IN DIE!!!!!!!" does us absolutely no good and makes YOU look like a fool.
But regardless of the way things look right now, this new system makes finding the news you want so simple. It will also offer seemless transitioning between all our blog sites - not to mention allowing the ability for more addons and features. Just bear with us as we go through puberty. ;)

To put it simply - all the articles on PSPU weren't written within the CMS posting system, they were imported which is bound to cause some problems. All articles written from now on will be more compliant.

How can 2 people say completly the opposite things about the same piece of software. Sorry found this rather funny while reading the comments.
Personally i think the sites ok. I wasn't a big fan of he old design, but in the end thats not why I come here. I come here as the news is updated more frequently than most other sites ive been on.

Good job on the layout thought guys, it's a major step and daring at that; don't let these other fools discourage you! So i say cheers to the future progress of this website and the content it brings to us. -clicks an ad-

:) The major complaint I have is with the RSS feed. There is only one for QJ.net, I would like to see one for each of the blogs and closer to the top of the page. Yes, I know there is a button to add the blog to MyYahoo. Overall, I like the new look.

I really liked the OLD pspupdates...
It was simple...
It took me a while to understand the whole page, this is annoying.
Nothing personal, just giving input, THANK YOU FOR PSPUPDATES ! But this new design is lame.
I think it will make me visit the site less.

If you would actually skim through the comments, you would find that most of what you are complaining about has already been covered. They say at the VERY BEGINNING that they have a DB error. So obviously, you won't be able to sign in without making a new account.
They have also said that they will be fixing the Opera bug on Tuesday. No point in spam up these comments over and over again. THEY ARE AWARE OF IT!!!
Also, they know about the Firefox error. So yet another thing to stop whining about so much.
And I'm sure they will post soon on the PSP browser problem. No reason to post about it three times in a row.
Now, I understand some of you dislike the new design. So, instead of saying things like "I don't see why you have changed the layout to something which is so horrible. Why didn't you just stay with the original layout?" is completely unconstructive. This is a site where WE have a say in how it looks. So give them some ideas, and quit complaining so much.

Also my Dev Pre-Paid subscription no longer allows me to login and remove the adverts!
Can't believe you have allowed Anonymous Posting to come back, especially after all the trouble it caused last time. The Anonymous Coward idea is a nice touch but do you really think it is going to stop the imbeciles posting obscene comments.........?
Personally I really think you should go back to the old design, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" springs to mind. Or as a bare minimum let users switch between the two. That way those who like the 'New Look' can keep it, and those who prefer the 'Old Look' can do likewise.
