This is a simple Advance Wars clone with online play. I'm not complaining though I can't wait for this.

Tailsnake, you show a remarkable lack of knowlege of gaming if you think that somehow Advance Wars was the first turn-based strategy game, or that Field Commander is a clone of it. That's not to say that AW isn't a great game, but it's hardly original - it's just a great example of a fun genre that hasn't gotten much attention of late. Hopefully Field Commander will be as well.

Incidently, I'm seeing a release date of April 24, not March 21. Which is good because Katamari is getting my game money this month.

I didn't really want to get into technicalities on the this, I know the wars (Famicom Wars, Super Famicom Wars, GB Wars, etc) series wasn't the first of it's kind (Daisenryaku Portable was just released on PSP and that is a war like series that pre-dates Famicom Wars). I took all that into account when I said that this is an advance wars clone, you really couldn't have expected this game to come out if Advance wars didn't bring back the genre, Sony want's to capitalize on that popularity and the easiest way to do that is to change as little of the core gameplay as possible, while adding new features to distinguish yourself from the original (which Sony seems to be doing). Just because I said this was an advance wars clone doesn't mean I didn't know what I was saying, I still feel that the statement was perfectly justified.

Clone is a pretty strong word - it implies that the gameplay (and/or the look and feel) is indentical. When I think clone, I think PacMan vs. KC Munchman.

In this case, I don't think that the gameplay is identical, and any similarities in gameplay can hardly be credited to Advance Wars. Even if it were true that Advance Wars 'brought back the genre' I don't think the term clone would be justified.

I'll concede this arguement to you, Clone was too strong of a word. This is more like an new wars game inspired by Advance Wars.
