Critics Make Dead Man's Chest Walk the Plank |
Ó

I guess not even Johnny Depp's charm can save Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest from harsh critiques of some gamers. Typically, games that have been adapted from the movies are of poor quality, appealing only to die hard fans of the films. It is rather unfortunate that this swashbuckler has fallen the same path.
Battle scenes were pretty much follows this order - speed attack, strength move and stun maneuver. And if you keep on doing that for hours on end, you'll just eventually get bored. Add to that the game's inconsistent framerate, it was not only distracting, but unsightly as well. Maybe, to break the battles' monotony, puzzles were inserted into the game. Although the intention was good, the sloppy controls made it impossible for players to accomplish the tasks with ease and ends up getting frustrated, not at the puzzle games, but with the controls.
One thing keeping this game afloat is its multiplayer option. Using one game disk, you and three other friends, can engage in an epic sea battle, much like in the movie. You can even take the helm of the legendary Black Pearl if you were able to unlock it single-player mode or take control of Davy Jones' Flying Dutchman.
Overall, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is a playable game but not enough to save it from walking the plank.

"Using one game disk, you and three other friends, can engage in an epic sea battle, much like in the movie."
Wow, first time UMD's are seen in a movie. GJ Sony!
If Prince of Persia was written by a LUA-boy, it'd be like PotC: DMC
W00t 4th comment :P. The movie was pretty good
The movies was good but this game isn't that great. The way you fight in it sucks. And the controls do get a little screwed up at times.
n/t
I loved this movie. I wonder what would happen if Johnny always dressed like Jack?
The controls make it seem like your trying to control.... well, a drunken pirate!
YES! I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS, Ive bin waiting fer someone ta diss this game, i mean tha controls n gameplay r wack as hell, its so automatic that you end up doing so little before you end a level.
returned it for warriors code, now thats way better.
Awful movie = awful game. American movies used to be great..Now they're just franchise cash-ins and *****ty shock documentaries. LOLZ VOTE 4 PEDR0!
Yeah. This game is awful. The idea behind it is great, and the intro makes you want to play...
...but you start to play and are immediately unindated by the poor camera perspective and the overly tedious fighting... X X X X X then square, but if you don't hit square quickly, the power attack gets blocked and you more than likely get killed. It sucks! I played into this game about 15 minutes then gave up. Not a good representation of the movie in my oppinion.
hey i like the movies and the game haha probly just caus i have a simple mind and like to be able to kill ppl with ease but some of the animations were pretty cool i thought and i liked the weapons but hey thats just my opinion
As far as movie --> games go, they usually suck. Pirates Dead Man's Chest is really awful.
Cars for the PSP was surprisingly good (really fun and looked great, too).
What gives? How come so many movie games are just really bad and only a few rare ones shine?
My crew will slaughter you if you don't play this game! Is about me!
Yeah thats right!
Those idiotic people , they should've made me look more handsome!
correction to #15...
The name's suppose to be Jack Sparrow.... somehow it signed me in and overrided the username....
I really couldn't care less. The movie is great, the game sucks.
And cause the game sucks then the entire thing has to walk the plank?
Since the article is centered around the game primarily, Yes - the entire thing needs to walk the plank! :)
Play Burning Seas from Flyinglabs. Now there's a pirate game!
i think this game is good but the levels do get a little boring like the way uve done multiplayer keep it up:)
