Driver Sequel Steers Towards the PSP |
After getting burned by the heavily hyped but critically unsuccessful Driv3r, Atari took the franchise back into the shop and performed a total overhaul. Gone are the setting and protagonist of the original games. Now the series is set to make a fresh start with a new lead man in 1978 New York City in Driver: Parallel Lines. What better place for a fresh start than on a fresh platform? Atari today confirmed that Parallel Lines is headed for the PSP in addition to the already announced PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions, and is being developed by Sumo Digital. Sumo Digital is no stranger to racing games or PSP development, as it has worked on OutRun 2 for the Xbox and the PSP editions of TOCA Race Driver 2 and Virtua Tennis. The possibility of a portable Parallel Lines first surfaced last night in a report on Shacknews, which cited a "well-placed and reputable source."
The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of Parallel Lines are being handled by series developer Reflections Interactive and should be out in March. Atari has yet to announce a release date for the PSP edition.

Driver 1 for pc was awesome, but after that they just went down the hole. Driver 1 was awesome, cause you could just run away from the cops and watch them drive at super speeds to get you, and then crash like mad. But GTA has that and a good bit more. shooting, carjacking... the list just goes on.

Wrong info.... check ya sources!
I agree with Karloz25... You can also check psp-news.dcemu.co.uk.
Driver series were crappy since the begginig. They're a bad imitation of GTA, onnly that you were always on a car. when GTA III was announced Driver 2 let you get of your car but it was USELESS, no guns, no carjacking!

Actually, the Driver series was 3D before the GTA series was, and Driver II was a damn good game. I used to play that for hours, and there WAS carjacking in Driver II, as well as guns. You could get out, shoot someone, then steal a car and get away. I liked it better than all GTA games until San Andreas.
Freehunter, you are wrong. I have the copy of Driver 2 sitting in my hands, after just playing it to check what you said. And you are wrong. I remember first getting Driver 2, it was stunning. But anyways...you can get out, and enter other peoples cars...no guns...no guns...and no shooting anyone, they run away from you if you just walk near them anways. So Freehunter, make sure you know what you are talking about next time. And GTA III was just plain better then Driver II, any PS1 game didnt come close to GTA III...its a classic.
Noooooooooooooo oooo! Why is this crap coming out?!
