Yu Suzuki, Sega game designer - Image 1Those of you who thought that Sega game designer Yu Suzuki is finally his own man after severing ties with the company are only partially correct in that assumption. According to Sega of America president Simon Jeffery, Suzuki is still very much in their payroll.

The Sega head clarified Suzuki's role in the company in a recent interview with Gamasutra, saying that he is still a Sega employee. Jeffery was quoted having said that Suzuki "...is a Creative Officer of Sega Corp".

The game designer is perhaps best known for old school arcade titles such as the Outrun, Space Harrier, and Shenmue franchises. His recent works include the Chinese MMO Shenmue Online, as well as the unreleased arcade title Psy-Phi.

Suzuki's latest work was a 2007 Lindbergh arcade board-based racing title called Sega Race TV. The racing title features linked gameplay, as well as a running commentary throughout the races.
