For years now, the beloved Worms series has reminded us just how fun it is to be destructive, especially when
trash-talking invertebrates are involved. And now all the 2D, turn-based mayhem is finally available for PSP.

The new game looks like an appetizing blend of old and new. In the face of some tweaks, old favorites like the
sheep, uzi,  and "Dragon Ball" Remain. Predictably, the game also has wireless multiplayer support,
an important feature since at least half of the fun of a Worms game usually comes from playing it with friends.
Open Warfare
also promises exotic new locations to annihilate, including Hawaii and London.

Worms: Open Warfare goes on sale at a suggested retail of $39.99.

(Note: Several people have written it (and commented) warning that this game requires firmware 2.6.
Consider yourself warned (and thanks to all those who wrote). ).

Dragon Ball is far from new. It was in Worms: World Party.

will DS players be able to play PSP players? Since this title is for both DS and PSP. That would be sweet. =)

# NDS version inferiorGuest 2006-03-22 11:15
Sorry guys buying it for DS, there is NO Nintendo Wifi play and touchscreen control is limited to menus, picking weapons, and navigating the map. I'm a DS guy myself, but it looks like I'll be going with the PSP version of this one.

# Hmm...Guest 2006-03-22 11:16
To the poster two posts above. I play Gunbound too. ;D

Also, dragonball was in several of the older Worms games.

I also agree that a hombrew port would be awesome.

Since it needs 2.6 though, I'll be getting it on the NDS if I get it. I don't plan on updating passed 1.5.

I understand that worms has at least two different forms of multiplayer features. One form being 'hot seat' where you use 1 PSP and just pass it around. I've also seen mention of WiFi support. But I have yet to see any mention of whether or not that is limited to AdHoc or if it takes advantage of infastructure mode. Worms is all about the multiplayer and it would be ideal if Team17 offered an online system in which people can play against eachother. Does anyone know if such a system is in place for this game?

some games that say they require 2.6 fw is a lie, like daxter works with umd emulator and mphgameloader on a 1.5 psp

did anyone go download the iso to confirm it doesn't work with the mphgameloader?

I humbly bow to those who (politely) pointed out Dragon ball is not new to the series. Obviously my Worms knowledge is not as extensive as it should be :D.

# worms on 1.5ahnp 2006-03-26 08:42
i have tried to get worms working on a 1.5 psp and it doesnt like most things. Worms requires 2.6 and the only way to get it working is by ripping the flash out of firmware, then you need to run the mph 1.4 firmware launcher. then the flash files also need to be in the mph gameloader. Im not entirely sure on how to get this working but aparently it does work and the ***** wont send me all the nessacary files. I have melested several of the firmwares but i have sucessfully loaded the 2.6 and everything just comes up currupt in the game menu. pre loading it into the ram first may be an option but mine crashed doing that with 2.6, 2.5, 2.01. 2.0 kept asking to update. can anybody tell me where to get decent flash files of a 2.6fw that will run the items necessary

# 2.6 fw flash filesGuest 2006-03-30 04:07
I beleive the 2.6 flash files are encrypted and cannot (yet) be extracted from the eboot

This thing better have super sheep in there! And hopefully bannana bomb too. These two weapons, and the ninja rope are like the essentials in worms.

# wi-fi with pspemericaska8r 2006-04-09 10:43
im definiatally getting this. because if it needs 2.6 it will have wi-fi support, which means worms over the internet! I alway used to do this with my computer and play against people! THis will be great!

I don't see why people don't upgrade to 2.6 yet with the awesome eloaders coming out. Though, i guess cuz there is no iso loader, which isn't that big of a deal becuase its usually illegal.
