As expected, this year's Golden Joysticks Awards held at the Park Lane Hilton hotel in London, was a real blast. There are a total of 16 awards given, 15 of which were decided by the gaming public. Winner of the Editors' Choice Award, on the other hand, was selected by a panel of the industry's journalists. Titles that came out on or after August 1, 2005 until July 31, 2006 were all contenders.

GJARockstar Games continued on its winning ways as Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories took home the Handheld Game of the Year award. It would be remembered that just last year, San Andreas also emerged victorious in the said award giving body. Accolades were then given to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion by 2K Games as it grabbed three trophies: PC Game of the Year, Xbox Game of the Year and PLAY.com Ultimate Game of the Year.

Nintendo also shared the limelight as it won in three categories as well: Nintendogs for The Sun Family Game of the Year and Bliss Girls' Choice for 2006. New Super Mario Bros., on the other hand, won the Nintendo Game of the Year trophy.

Other winners are as follows:

The Uk is one place i dont trust when it comes to voting for things like these, its like they never choose the right option when voting for movies, music or games.

» Soundtrack?

I hate it when games that simply dish out money and sign other people's work for their soundtrack with the 'best soundtrack award'.

Games that have a custom soundtrack such as Oblivion in this case should be the ones considered. You can't hear the Oblivion sountrack on the radio, and IMO at least, it added/fit the game far better than the NFSMW soundtrack fit the racer...

» Wow, lame.

Everybody was just annoyed they couldn't select Twilight Princess for anything, lolgg.

Can't believe NFS got Soundtrack of the Year (That should go to Shadow of the Collosus, which IMO is one of the best PERIOD).

EA shouldn't of gotten publisher of the year, that should of gone to either a) Nintendo -- For making the best comeback in almost the history of Video Games, almost dead to back in the limelight or b) Rockstar -- Putting up with Thompson's ***** and STILL making quality titles. I mean, what the hell has EA done that's been so uber? Release a few franchise titles? Is that it? Honestly.

The CVG one to watch I say should of been the Wii, to be honest. Despite the good comments from people in the know, it still hasn't undergone mass public analysis yet. Most people's reaction of the PS3 is going to be "Looks good, but too expensive". Where as the Wii is risking quite a bit with it's graphically inferior games and crazy new control scheme. That's why I think it's the one to watch 2007, but that's just me.

I agree with everything else, mind.

I can definitely make some predictions for next year, hehehe.
