Now that Patapon 2 has been confirmed to be UMD-less and will be up for digital download on PSN, it'd sure be interesting to check out what you're gonna get when you physically walk into a store to pick up the little black eyeballs. Let's have a look, shall we?

Patapon 2 - Image 1

For US$ 19.99, you'll be getting the practically empty box, which merely contains the download voucher which you'll need to download the game. Otherwise, you can simply download Patapon 2 on the PlayStation Network for US$ 15 - five bucks cheaper than having to head over to the store to get an empty box. If you pre-ordered, you won't have to worry. You will get the empty box too, with the much-needed download voucher.

The empty box is out on May 5th, but if you'd like to save five dollars, you'll have to wait for the May 7 release on PSN.

Box? Worldwide nothing?

Just what we always wanted :D, an empty box. Doesn't this mean that region specific material will start to fade away as time goes on maybe? Instead of Europe (usually) getting the game late we might get it at the same time. In worldwide releases or something like that. This could be a step in the right direction, Sony might start to see a sales boost if they play their cards right IMO.

do you think....

do you think people will just crack open the box and get a free voucher code?

bad idea

poor people who've preordered and don't have a big enough memory stick to keep the whole game on lol

MS Pro Duo Bigger?

That is a good point, if that was the case then wouldn't that mean that they could just make it so people need to get bigger memory sticks all the time? With the releases of 16 and 32GB Memory Sticks then Sony could take full advantage of the size issue, 2 years time we will have 128GB memory sticks and PSP games that break the 1.8GB UMD size limit. Memory Sticks sales are gonna sky rocket. Like I said, if they play their cards right ^_^.

Althor..

You don't know much, do you? 32 gb is the theoretical limit on how large a pro duo can get.
