Warhammer

Warhammer is a series that I'm only familiar with based on their dice-chucking table top strategy games. I've tried playing a few rounds of it before and after the first 5 minutes, I ended up throwing what seems to be a whole handful of dice on the table. And the number-crunching required... oh dear lordy... there's a reason why I sucked at math.

Hopefully the PSP version of the series, Warhammer WarCry: Battle for Atluma, the PSP's first card-based battle game, will take away all the number crunching from your hands and just allow you to focus on the strategy, the fun, and the battles.

The game is based on the Warhammer card game. Set in the Warhammer World, players are given the choice of leading the Grand Alliance or the Hordes of Darkness to complete domination. With 450 cards available for the players to collect, 90 different units, and the ability to connect wirelessly to a friend and challenge him for his cards, the game sounds very promising.

The game is set to ship on October 17, so to all Warhammer fans out there, ready your wallets. By the way, it's WarHAMMER, not WarCRAFT (just kidding).

To kensuaga

Not sure it will be a card game like metal gear acids ones. I hope i'll be more than magic the gathering's card games, or anything like this. I'll hope for a real turn based game, but it's just a dream ... :(

Reading comprehension = D-

You guys complaining about math apparently suck at reading, too. The article says that it IS a collectible card-based game. By nature those ARE turn-based. And there IS strategy involved. Beyond that, the entire point of making it a video game version is so that the PSP can do the number crunching for you. As long as you are competent enough to compare values (i.e.: this number is bigger than that one), you should be good to go to play this game. For madonion, are you serious? There are strategy games for the PSP. Field Commander and both Metal Gear Acid games are three titles I can think of off the top of my head that are already out.

damn I am not 12 any more

I have a tendancy to avoid games that require cards or marbles. I did not buy a PSP to play Magic the Gathering or any other game that uses cards. We are not in the 90's anymore. $ony is just laughing at us all right now.

I'd like to see something like Diablo II on the PSP. I agree about that statue character in the article, it's pretty wicked looking. I want to go out and buy a few of those chars just to have around. Not a purist for warhammer (never played) but they'd be a cool collectors item.

As happy as seeing this makes me, it's depressing that they made it a CCG instead of a direct copy of the table top game. I loathe CCG video games, and I feel that this incarnation of Warhammer is going to suffer for it. I'll still get it just to see if it translates well, but I don't hold much hope for it.

DIABLO II

Diablo II would be a great port- Easy to do and would make tons of $$$. It will probably never happen because BLIZZARD would have to work with the devil himself to port it. They have done it in the past with Diablo and Warcraft for the ps1 then all cooperation seemed to stop. Wo is me.
