Walmart Pre-owned games - Image 1

In case you're into buying pre-owned games, here's another alternative shop for you. Retailer Walmart is joining in on the race of pre-owned games sales, along GameStop and Amazon.

What's different about this gig from Walmart is that they DO NOT accept trade-ins of used games, they just sell them. As to where they get those pre-used games, therefore, we're not really sure. Toys R Us, maybe? You know, from their used games collection?

Check out the Walmart catalog for pre-used games in the source link below.

They probably get the games on a Return basis if they even have a policy to accept returns for opened packaging.

Although this is a bold maneuver and I hope it really burns their @$$, I like places like Gamestop to get most everything console related.

Damned Wal-Mart pulling a Microsoft move...

» Buying pre owned games

is like rooting a slut - she may be cheaper but you dunno whos put that disk in their drive!

» You're an idiot.

All used games I've ever bought have been in perfect condition. They even SHOW YOU THE DISK before you buy it.

» wow

im happy i broke out of that new game mentality. half those prices look pretty damn good and since blu-ray is damn well near invincible it doesnt bother me

Everybody has different experiences, I really don't think that warrants calling someone an idiot. I myself prefer to spend the extra $5 dollars to get a new game over a used game, plus it supports the overall sales of the developer hopefully increasing their motivation to release a newer and more polished product.

» Those preowned games are expensive!

You can go other places to get them cheaper.

by fearlubu - 2009-10-04 08:01
» well

id rather buy the game new if its not much more expensive (like csyrah), for i too would like to support the devs than something like gamestop.

plus youll always get that nice new plastic-y smell to it

» yeah..

It's also guaranteed to work, I've returned games and movies to Gamestop if they didn't work.. But that's only happened three times in, oh, 10 years?

» I guess we should be thankful...

I guess we should be thankful that the game industry hasn't lobbied to take away our right to buy and sell used games.

Like they did with our RIGHT as consumers to return a product we aren't happy with for any reason. Now that the industry has gotten laws passed, we can't return a badly produced game. That was their epic win. "Paid $50 for a game we didn't feel like finishing? Oh sorry, you coulda-woulda-shoulda copied it so you can't return it now. Tee Hee!"

screw that. If I want to deal with used games I'll go to EB Games or Gamestop. I can get a ps2 game used for $4-$10.

» Walmart now?

Niceeee. However, Game Stop sales their pre-owned games as if they were new. I checked out the pre-owned games section and the ones that have a pricetag of $17-$30 were the ones no one wants. A three month old game used goes for $45-$56 USED!!! Glad Walmart join now! Screw you GS!

» If you just honestly think about

it in a smart way you will see that it would be impossible for them to take it back to you because of too many people who will buy the game play it finish it and then return it. Or people who buy a GOTY edition with a DLC Code, use it and then return it or say another GOTY edition with a 2nd disc with DLC content to install on HDD and then return it or for people who make backups which this is where it probably started with the music industry, buy it rip it and then return it. 30 days is way more than enough time to finish a game.

» Hmm

I dunno if this is a good or bad thing.. Walmart owns Asda in the UK so we could get this over here, and they have the buying power to offer better deals than dedicated gaming stores, but supermarkets have enough money already so taking away from smaller retailers really isn't good.

» lol

tee hee

it's impossibly to make it work tho since just about every game can be completed in any store's normal return period so folks could just beat them and take em back. Same with movies and music, watch the movie then return it, burn the CD then return it.
