Verizon Xperia Play launch details revealed

The long wait is over folks as Verizon Wireless has finally pinned down the release of Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play for its North American debut.

The Android-powered “PlayStation phone” will be available on May 26 with the carrier taking preorders online starting this Thursday, May 19th. It will come bundled with seven game titles including, Madden NFL 11 (EA Sports), Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior (Digital Legends), Asphalt 6: Adrenaline (Gameloft), The Sims 3 (EA), Star Battalion (Gameloft), Crash Bandicoot (Sony Playstation) and Tetris, with more than 50 game titles available at launch for download via V CAST Apps.

Additional features of Xperia Play:

1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon II processor with Adreno 205 GPU
Adobe Flash Player
4-inch multi-touch display
5-megapixel rear-facing camera
VGA front-facing camera for still shots and video chatting
Support for Google Mobile Services including Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Search, Google Maps and access to more than 200,000 apps available to download from Android Market
Mobile hotspot capability- share 3G connection with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices

Xperia Play will cost US$ 199.99 with a two-year contract, and you'll need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan and a smartphone data package, which will set you back another US$ 39.99 and US$ 29.99, respectively.

the xperia play is what the PSP should have been. i got n64oid and FPSE on mine, so n64 and psx while i move. and some of gamelofts games arent that bad, Nova 2 is actually a fun game to play, but the thing i have to say that annoys me a lil is the crappy trackpads. they are USELESS, there is no deadzone on them, and u almost dont notice when ur finger slides off them
