Manhunt 2 - Image 1The issue surrounding Rockstar Games' Manhunt 2 (PS2, Wii and PSP) just won't die yet, now that four US senators sent a letter to ESRB requesting that the review board make a "thorough review" of the game. The senators who signed the letter were Senators Hillary Clinton, Joe Liebermann, Even Bayh, and Sam Brownback.

Part of the letter, addressed to ESRB president Patricia Vance, reads:

[In sum], we ask your consideration of whether it is time to review the robustness, reliability and repeatability of your ratings process, particularly for this genre of ‘ultra-violent’ videogames and advances in game controllers.

The senators also question why ESRB revised Manhunt 2's rating from "Adults Only" to "Mature", claiming that such a move will make the game more accessible through widespread distribution. Aside from PTC's demand to reinstate the former Adults Only rating on Manhunt 2, the US senators' letter makes for added pressure on ESRB.

I have played the uncut beta version of Manhunt 2 and it has less objectionable material than Manhunt. Seriously. Couple that with the fact that most of EVERYTHING from that uncut beta version has been blurred out, filtered, fogged, blackened out or otherwise completely removed from the final release, this is complete idiocy.

Seriously. Every one of you idiots who are giving an arm and a leg to this Manhunt 2 look at Manhunt. IT IS WORSE. But why didn't anything happen when Manhunt was released? Well because this so called hypothetical "Video game violence making kids serial killers" wasn't *fad* then.

God people always need something to complain about and have to find a current controversial issue to up their points with the general public some way or another.

I agree, the sucky thing is that these senators probably don't give a damn about the game itself, but are using it as political crutch to get their names out to the public for future political gain. The only thing we can do is rememeber who these senators are, and remember this if they ever try to run for presidency in the future.

Who is Hillary Clinton? or Joe Liebermann?

It's not like they plan on running for president or anything. :P (J/K)

Please don't vote Hillary. Obama really would do a better job for the democratic interest IMO.

Yeah, but too bad that a lot of American voters think that we are doing the right thing in Iraq, not to mention that even the Democrat party is hestant to pull out troops. I don't expect it anytime soon.

Seeing how the ESRB isn't a government agency, there's f*ck-all that the government can do to change their ratings.
