SukkoPera has recently updated his Upspear program, a PC application to aid you in all your PSP homebrew needs. Currently, this application is aimed at the 1.5 firmware users due to its feature list. The application is delivered in .exe format and does not require any file installation. This PC application can do the following for you and your homebrew:

  • Install new homebrews in a very simple way.
  • View homebrew you have installed, rename and delete them.
  • Reorder installed homebrews to your liking.
  • View savegames and delete the ones you don't need anymore.
  • Backup your savegames to zip-compressed files on your PC.
  • Hide/unhide "Corrupt data" icons or move to bottom of the list.
  • Kxploit a 1.0 eboot.pbp, making it work under 1.5 firmwares.
  • Identify useless folders in psp/game.
  • View the contents of a .SFO format file (i. e.: param.sfo).
  • See information about the memory stick.

Viewing the program myself, it is very easy to use and to setup. In the past I have found it difficult to organize my homebrew folder, but with this program it will make it much easier for me. The only issue I have had with it so far is that it does not read all of my homebrew games. The program does notify you that these specific homebrew have not been read and request that you manually delete them. I would suggest not deleting the homebrew if you do receive this message because this is not a homebrew problem, but rather the program's at the moment.

Overall, this program is very useful and organized with a friendly GUI interface. The current language is English and its user base focuses on 1.5 homebrew users.

Like the concept but as soon as you close the window to select the drive that is the usb'd psp the program aborts. Does the program work for anyone else under windoze XP?

Hi, this is the original SukkoPera :). Thanks for reviewing my program. I'd just like to point out that the program also has Italian language support, it will autodetect Windows language and switch to it if necessary. Adding new translations is straightforward , and if anybody wants to translate Upspear to his own language, just mail me.

Also, if you want those unrecognised folders to be recognised, send me their names and I will add support.

@Supermart: I've tested it under WinXP and it worked fine. Please send me more details of the crash you're experiencing.

As I can't assure to be following these comments, please *e-mail* me for any info at .

Enjoy :).

» few notes of a review of it

yea i stuck my mem stick in my card reader tried to open the program and it keeps saying i dont' have anything in drive H my mem stick is in drive K and once i click continue a few times to get past those errors it brings up the screen asking what drive then i select drive K and when it tries to load it says my Universal Remote doesn't corispond with any homebrew i click close then it sits at that looking like it froze for like between3 and 5 min then it loads finally i'm just finally able to test the actual program now ok tested the reorder yet again looked like it froze won't know if it worked till i stick it back in my psp next to test if it will allow me to set an icon file nope i click the pack thing or hit alt+E and nothing happens ok well everything so far has seemed to work i haven't had a chance to stick the stick back in my psp yet but the only two actual complaints are the loading time for everything it should atleast have a progress bar and that it seems to have functions that say they exist but don't but awsome prog shoulda released the linux version on here

oh also it seems to think that any file that i've set the icon for isn't a real homebrew and also seems to think that some of my files are hidden but arn't

» wanna fix everything!

again, please mail suggestions and complaints directly to me, as I can't read every forum out there...

loading times are most likely due to the slowness of your card reader. on my pc, directly connecting the psp via usb 2.0, it loads so fast that i never felt the need to add a progress bar. indeed, that is a good idea, and i've put it on my todo list, thanks.

in the welcome screen, it is clearly said that some functions don't work yet, and the pack thing is among those. i know it could be useful, but it will be implemented sometime in the future.

about all of the folders not recognised, or wrongly recognised as hidden or viceversa, please mail me the name of those folders, it's all i need to fix it.

anyway, i'm glad to see that many people like and use upspear, thanks :).
