UMD - Image 1In an effort to entice current PSP owners to Go and upgrade to the new PSP model, Sony is launching a "PSP Go Rewards" program, where you can get your hands on three games free of charge. Read on and find out how.

First, you have to register a PSP Go on PSN. Then you have to log into PSN using your old PSP with a UMD in the drive. From there, you can download a PSP Go Theme and receive an email carrying a voucher.

This voucher will let you download any three games out of this list of 17:
  • Buzz!: Brain Bender
  • Buzz!: Master Quiz
  • Daxter
  • Echochrome
  • Everybody's Golf PSP
  • Killzone: Liberation
  • Lemmings PSP
  • LocoRoco
  • MediEvil
  • Patapon
  • Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
  • Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
  • Resistance: Retribution
  • SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3
  • Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
  • Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow
  • WipEout Pure
PSP Go Rewards will be running from the PSP Go's day one, October 1st, until March 31st in 2010. The offer is available for those with any of the current PSP models, 1000-3000.

As for the download, there's no word on whether or not it requires FW 6.00 to access. Naturally, Sony's not gonna tell us about their security specs, but it's possible that they have taken steps on that regard. We'll let you guys know if we find anything further.

» Yes,

these games are totally worth it.

by colin776775 - 2009-09-24 09:46
» too bad

too bad they didn't have motor storm gran tourism 5 and gta in this list, then a lot more people would buy this.

by Acteon - 2009-09-24 09:55
» Erm..

Ok, it's an effort, I'll give them that, but to be honest I have 42 UMD's and most of these games are ancient.

I can't see this making much of a dent in the current downward trend the unit is on, but at least it's better than nothing.

I'm not going to reinstate my pre-order though, sorry Sony.

» FTB3 isn't on the list.

I believe there was a typo, as the free game is FTB1 and not FTB3. FTB3 won't be released in time for this offer, so it's pointless in offering it.

Other sources are saying FTB1, also.

» Agreed.

Canceled my preorder the day the ps3 price went to 299. I actually got excited when I seen this thinking that LBP and GT might be on there. I would have went strait to Game Stop after work for that. I already own most of the games on that list. Already PAID for them too. What happens if I wanted to "upgrade?"

» well...

GT5 Comes with all PSP Go! for free.

I saw a video in which they where opening the PSP Go! and it had GT5 on it, but they had to update to 6.00 to play it which at the time it was not online yet.

» haha...

What's funny that everyone failed to notice,is that everygame on that list is a sony and naughty dog game lol.But its weird no other games appeared, only the ones thats made by inside companies,hmmm...its like the other companies were like ***** off or something.

by unggoy - 2009-09-24 11:07
» hmm..

no rock band: unplugged?.. FAILED!!..

by Ezekial - 2009-09-24 11:31
» at least...

Well at least they are trying. I am still not gonna update from M-33 to 6.00 to connect to the PSN. I am still thinking of buying a PSP-Go I just hope they will get emulators working on it :(

» Gran Turismo......5?

It's not called Gran Turismo 5, it's simply Gran Turismo.

That's a decent list to choose from. A few of those games stand out, but other than that, I'd say it's not all that bad.

by TheRockness - 2009-09-24 12:11
» ...

No one failed to notice it. They've chosen a good selection of games. They chose the games that would have the least financial impact when given away free. If they had chosen other games, they would be paying fees to the 3rd party Devs that made the game.

You seem too entertained within your own mind to need videogames.

So. I sell off my PSP-2000 and buy a PSP go.

Suddenly my library of 20 games no longer work, but hey at least I get 3 free games! (4 inc. GT)

No. I think not! If they gave us a method of transferring these games to the Go they'd have a buyer.

by truk - 2009-09-24 14:04
» not woth it if you already have a psp

this isn't much of an incentive at all especially if you have an established collection

by cmbeke - 2009-09-24 14:15
» just keep it

keep you 2000 for cfw and go for PSN and all new games

by symbal - 2009-09-24 14:19
» Not a chance

Of me getting a Psp go and i'll warn anyone i know not to buy 1 but if someone does feel the urge to throw away their money on this thing i'll happily let them register my Psp 2k on their Psn account to get these free games, at least then they'll be slightly less ripped off by Sony.

Unfortunately I'm good with money, so when I see a device that costs more and does nothing more than my current system then I'm not going to buy it.

by gogeta85 - 2009-09-24 14:45
» suck on these b@lls

» Theory

I've never tried this, but I think if you have the right mem stick and battery, you should be able to easily upgrade to 6.00 and then use despertar del cementerio to downgrade. I'm really not sure if this is possible from 6.00 but its probably the easiest way that I can think of. Try it at your own risk.

If you preorder from Delldotcom its like $212 for a PSP Go. I think that's the best deal I've found.

by chris_venom4843 - 2009-09-24 15:17
» It's alright

Don't worry about I'll do the same thing lol :)

by TheRockness - 2009-09-25 04:08
» It works.

I just tested it this morning. Upgraded to 6.00 then used despertar del cementerio to downgrade. Pretty easy.

by Ezekial - 2009-09-25 08:16
» ok so this is not for North America?!

http://psp.ign.com/articles/102/1028321p1.html

Apparently this incentive program is only for Europe and all of NA is getting the Sony shaft?

by unggoy - 2009-09-25 17:25
» duh..

its because people are just going to rent or borrow psp games and rip those games for the psp go.. no matter, it will eventually get hacked anyway so no biggie..
