Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War versus mode details - Image 1

When it comes to Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War, screenshots and related images abound while details about gameplay and whatnot are rather scarce. So, we're pretty sure that this little update will make your day.

A couple of days ago, Square Enix just confirmed that the game's multiplayer function is supported by the Playstation Portable's (PSP) wireless feature. We also learned that there is going to be a co-op mode as well as a versus mode. There's no update regarding the former, but there are some interesting developments going on with the player-vs-player mode of the game.

Apparently, the winner of each battle in versus mode will be awarded with certain amounts of treasure chests. The value and amount of these awards are dependent on how the player did in the said battle. Meanwhile, this feature can be also turned on and off, so that players will have the option to add some more thrill in their gameplay. Also, we got word that in versus mode, players will be able to select maps, and then choose specific rules for each battle (handicap settings maybe?). There are no further details on the exact mechanics of this particular feature, but it should be interesting.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War is set to be released in Japan on May 10.

UPDATE: On top of finding out about the co-op and versus modes for this title, IGN has also a bit of their own to add to the whole thing. According to them, characters will also find themselves painted either red or blue when in versus mode, just so one player doesn't end up curing the enemy's troops by mistake.

Next, we also find out that even though there is yet to be an American release date for this PSP game, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion Wars will be REGION-FREE, so go right ahead and start placing those online orders, or ask a friend to go to Japan and pick up a copy for you. Well, there IS of course the fact that the game will come in Japanese, so we're just betting that you can either speak and read the language, or you've played FF Tactics long enough to have memorized all menu layouts, icons and character stats.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion Wars will be REGION-FREE

WOW! just like the complete PSP library..... that isnt news, every game for the PSP is region free by default, it's the MOVIES that are region locked.
