PSP Go - Image 1 Looks like the retailers over at UK are deliberately disobeying Sony's set price points for PSPGo. Eurogamer is reporting that Amazon.co.uk, Play, GAME, and HMV have all dropped their prices for the newest Sony handheld, from £224.99 (US$ 359) to £199.99 (US$ 319).

The other shops, however, still have not followed suit. Argo is still selling for £219.99 (US$ 351) while ShopTo is sticking with the full price of £224.99. If you're looking to get your PSPGos for cheap, you know which stores to go to.

» I like the way they sell...

If only stores around the U.S. would drop the price of the PSPgo the same amount as they did in the U.K. then a lot more people would be more persuaded to buy one.

Also if Sony would make a UMD conversion to play your current games without having to purchasing them again would help out a lot as well.

» Idiot.

You do realize the PSP Go is only 249.99 USD right?. Their price is 199.99 in the UK which is the equivalent to 319.00 USD. Learn to read.

» seriously?

if i ever decide to get on i might aswell import one, the uk prices are over the top and im sure EU DLC games work on a US psp console... well i know they work on the PS3

by xgamer91 - 2009-10-05 23:15
» Screw you people...

@ neonn

I know that it's $249.99 USD. I am just saying that re-buying your games is if you already own a PSP and plan on getting the PSPgo means that it would cost more. So F**K YOU!!!

@ Aces In The Palm...

I'm just stating my opinion so you don't have to get all mad for no reason. It's because SCEA doesn't have a UMD conversion program so it would end up costing more money IF you had a large library of games you wanted to put the in the PSPgo.

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-06 00:32
» huh

your saying SCEE does have UMD conversion?

no we frickin dont!!!!

either way you look at it, it still costs us more than you.

so again, stop your whinging.

by ssouthparkk - 2009-10-06 01:26
» ......

Only fair.

STILL more than the Go in the U.S...... (After currency conversion)

U.K. consumers should really side with the stores.

» they got happs

I think sony got a bit excited with the price, i think il stay with my chipped 2000 ;)

by unggoy - 2009-10-06 03:02
» ..

250 dollars there in the US but here in EU it is 250 euros.. everything they sell here is the same as how they would sell there in the US.. if something is 100 dollars it will be 100 euros here, kinda like that..

by D.Dark - 2009-10-06 04:31
» I don't understand...

why people in the UK always compare the price of systems and games to the US when they want to complain about the cost. What does it matter how much it converts to in other countries currency! Do you do that for everything? Do you think, "This cup of tea costs $1.50, that's $3.00 in the US, that's too much to pay."? I am from the US and I don't give a crap what it costs to buy something when you convert it to other currencies. I loook at the product's price, decide if I feel its a good price in my currency, see if I have enough to buy it, and then I do. End of story!

by GLO13AL_T3RROR - 2009-10-06 04:54
» Its still fricking costly.....

I don't intend to buy this *****.

» Real Talk

I would buy this gadget for $150.00 at Gamestop through the "trade in" event thingy. You trade in a psp 3000 or psp slim and 3 games worth more than a dollar and it automatiaclly knocks off $100.00 bucks. Yea i trashed the psp go but i still want one due to its size. My biggest issue is the bult in battery, not even the DLC is a major issue. Its that darn battery. I currently own 2 psp's a phat and slim both runnin CFW. I dont want the slim lol it has a hardware issue. It just sucks because of all the awesome mods ive seen, there would be no way for me to do anything amazing like that except for render it officially useless by breaking it, but gamestop doesnt need to know hee hee hee :) theyll take it anyway. Too bad i dont have $150.00. That event ends October 25, so i got 19 days to get a job. Regardless ill find any way i can to pay more than a hundred dollars less for the psp go. $250.00 is outrageous, and i really dont care the reason, it shouldnt even exist... well since the psp 3000 failed through piracy.

» YES

because thats the way economics works

your dollar is worth more than ours.

go back to school.

if i was to import something from US for $100 US

do you think i can pay $100 AUS for it?

NO

it must be converted.

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-06 05:50
» lol

" I am from the US and I don't give a crap what it costs to buy something when you convert it to other currencies"

import something.

then you will know the true value of your dollar.

by D.Dark - 2009-10-06 06:01
» @Aces In The Palm

Of couse I understand that if you import something from another country you have to do the conversion. But we are not talking about imports, we are talking about buying products local to you. And if you understood the world economy, you would know that the US dollar is weaker than UK's right now, that's why when you convert the 250 to US it turns out to be more. But again, that's not my point. Why do you even care how much it converts to in the US.

You started your post with YES. Was that an answer to my question "Do you do that for everything"? So, does that mean when you go to buy anything you compare what it costs in the US before you decide whether to buy it or not. When you go to the grocery store, do you compare the price of your apples to ours? And if you want to constantly compare your prices to other countries, why stop at the US. Why not find a country that when you do the conversion it's even cheaper than the US and complain about that. Maybe every country in the world should agree on one price for all products and price theirs so that when you convert it they are all the same.

» Jesus...

We don't like paying over the odds, is that so hard to grasp? Basically the US is subsidised by every other country on the planet, so don't blame us for getting a bit resentful.

by D.Dark - 2009-10-06 06:09
» @Aceton

"Basically the US is subsidised by every other country on the planet"

Explain that one to me? You're really trying to say that Sony sells the products cheaper in the US and sells it higher every where else to make up for the fact that it's cheaper in the US and they aren't making enough money on it there? That's what your seriously trying to say?

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-06 07:16
» D.Dark

your obviously thick, so theres no point trying to explain it.

go back to school and learn economics.

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-06 07:18
» hey

chipped with what

dont tell me they actually released that devolution chip.

i thought it was fake

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-06 07:21
» oh

and a pound has ALWAYS BEEN 2 DOLLARS

yes thats right

a pound means 2 dollars

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-06 07:48
» another question

why chip it

when soft modding is so easy

by D.Dark - 2009-10-06 08:36
» @Aces In The Palm

And the fact that you can't explain you rediculous reasoning so you revert to insulting people lets me know that you are not worth reasoning with. So maybe you should go back to school and learn simple math before you start talking about economics!

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-06 11:21
» my god

the fact you dont get simple economics says your not worth reasoning with

listen

the more money a country prints, the less their dollar is worth.

ok

US has wealth so they can afford to print more money.

inflation isnt a prob

zimbabwe doesnt have wealth but have debt.

they print heaps of dollars and try to pay their debt before inflation kicks in, making the dollar worth less for everyone else.

a PSP may cost you $200 but costs them $2000

now because they get paid so little per hour it is out of their reach to buy such a thing.

aus and us economics are almost the same

YET we still pay more

THAT IS UNFAIR

GET IT

by Acteon - 2009-10-06 11:25
» @D.Dark

That's it exactly, have a banana :)

Fuel prices, food prices, electronics, take your pick. Have a look at a few books on global economics, it really is quite fascinating.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic by the way, take it from a guy who runs a multi-national company (albeit a very small one!) the US is heavily subsidised on a global economic basis. That's what being a dominant global power is really all about.

(That and finding oil : )

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-06 11:26
» and by the way

my job revolves around maths

there is nothing wrong with my mathematical skills.

you cant seem to grasp global economics.

you act like US is the only country on earth.

you have to accept there are other countries with their own currencies.

your saying you dont care what ***** everywhere else, you only care about what you pay.

thats ignorant.

theres a whole world out there.

by symbal - 2009-10-06 11:37
» Currencies

It is a simple fact that even manufacturers admit that because of different relative values of currencies the manufacturers will charge what they think a country is willing to pay, when you count all different taxes, cost of living etc. The UK is paying a similar amount to the US, but people in the US do have to realise that countries like UK,Japan,EU etc do pay more so the US can get it so cheap.

by xgamer91 - 2009-10-06 19:41
» Finally...

Some one agrees with me. I mean for $50 more you could afford a PS3, am I right? So that in my opinion makes the PSPgo an expensive hand held console for what it offers.
