The game got all aces in the review, and from the sounds of it, Snake and Kojima's final game together is worth the teary goodbyes. Here's an excerpt from the review:
I can't think of another series that has remained as uncompromisingly true to its creator's vision, and given its 21-year gestation, I doubt even Kojima himself will equal it, whatever individual triumphs follow. Ultimately this is a game for the fans - and you should be one.
They mag also dished out scores on several other games. Amazingly enough, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 only got an 8. MLB 08 The Show and Race Driver: GRID got 9 a piece. Here are the rest of their reviews:

with the mgo beta ending and the first reviews out, it's a sign of how close this game really is. im so excited!
i knew this game would get perfect scores. Im just so glad that i wont be disappointed in any way.
What the hell? How are you all praising this? I love MGS and i'm getting it as soon as I can but..you don't praise a perfect score from the official sony magazine. No *****, they're going to praise it, it does not mean anything. When a 3rd party magazine or site does, you can brag. This being news is really, really stupid. It's like Microsoft giving halo 3 a 10 out of 10, it means nothing.
...why they would give Singstar Summer Party a 7.
MGS4 is a huge game for PS3 which they're hoping to get sony ahead, duh. How would it look if the officialy sony magazine gave one of the most hype'd up games for PS3 a low rating?

Crisis Core was the most hyped up game for PSP, and they gave that an 8.
So its not ok for a PS Mag to give a PS3 game a perfect score but for some reason no one cares if
nintendo power to give a wii game one?
In my opinion Crisis Core at least deserves a 9/10.

MGS wasn't that big untill like snake eater.
I bet half of theses hype people didnt even play MGS 1 and 2
i subscirbe to this magazine and they are very un-biased
it the original MGS was one of the biggest PS1 games
And MGS2 made a huge impact on the PS2, sold millions of copies, but then MGS wasn't that big before....(sarcasm)...
where have you been during the launch of the PS2? MGS2 was and still is the highest selling MGS game. It sold more than MGS3, so I think it was big before Snake-Eater.

I've aways love MGS games eversince it came out on PSOne. And also liked the 3hours movie in "MGS 3: Substitence" on disc 3, it was totaly awesome.
But the only thing that I don't like so much in the game , is the way move, crowl. The Guys that make the game should take note of how "Sam fisher" moves, not thats what you call stleath movement.
"Snake" sucks alot compared to Sam Fisher" of "Splinter cell" in being a ghost , concerding stleath,
That's what I think lack from MGS series, otherwise the game is just Perfect.
First off, Sam Fisher is Microsofts answer for Solid Snake so why that fishy crap head should give snake lessons in "espionage" I'll never know....
In my opinion MGS has done much better than SC in terms of character developement, innovation of game play and the platforms they play on. I always thought of MGS as the daddy of stealth games..... + it always will be, a 20 year franchise say's it all really.
I didn't like SC because of the "Hyper Stealth" idea... MGS is a little more realistic when it comes to what is possible when traversing a base full of armoured baddies.
mgs2 was my favorite so far. The story from the begining to the end changed so much you could hardly even tell it was the same game. The music and bosses were crazy. Although it has less graphics then part 3 its still my favorite out of all of them (not playing as snake wasn't the biggest deal in the world for me).
What you don't understand is SC is more of a james bond kind of game where you get "special gadgets" and stuff.. Realistic cqc and stuff like that is what is better than pressing up to throw the guy in the water or down to slice his neck. The feel of the game is more realistic in my opinion compared to splinter cell.

It wont be easy to make a lot of noise, especially after GTA IV, but I think MGS4 will be the game to do it.
