Gears of War 2 beats LittleBigPlanet in charts - Image 1It's not quite the holiday seasons yet, but it looks like the Xbox 360 got an early hit in against the PlayStation 3. Gears of War 2 debuted at the top of the UK's software charts, getting the one-up against LittleBigPlanet.

LittleBigPlanet, which was released two days before GoW2 in the region, only landed on fourth place for some reason. Either Europeans just aren't into sackboys, or a lot of gamers simply imported the game when it came out in North America.

Then again, the game's debut in the Japan didn't land on top spot either, with Grand Theft Auto IV stealing its sticker thunder. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, also a PlayStation 3 exclusive, didn't fare so well either, debuting in the UK low at 29th place. FIFA 09 and Fallout 3 win second and third place, respectively.

Here the full top 10 games for the UK for the week ending on November 8:
  1. Gears of War 2
  2. FIFA 09
  3. Fallout 3
  4. LittleBigPlanet
  5. WWE Smackdown Vs RAW 2009
  6. Professor Layton and the Curious Village
  7. Mario Kart Wii
  8. Quantum of Solace
  9. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009
  10. Wii Fit

» the "import"'s right!

i have only 2 friends out of 60 on my friendlist (all those 60 are European) that DIDNT import it!

so i thinks that the cause, but this is still something to get "worried" about!

I'm not one to say games deserve a perfect 10. Hell even when most all review sites were giving GTA4 a perfect 10 I was thinking, "Man the check from Rockstar must have cleared."

But I really believe Gears of War 2 is possibly the greatest game that I have ever played. Trying to push away the feelings of old school video games that still have their awesome place to me.

» PS3 base vs. 360 base

There are many more 360 owners than PS3 owners. If the amount of 360 owner would equal to the amount of PS3 owners, the PS3 exclusives would be higher on that list.

Just because GOW2 outsells LBP, it doesn't mean that more % of the 360 fanbase buys GOW2 than the % of the PS3 fanbase buying LBP.

» so what, who cares about UK sales anyway?

And who cares about the best seller anyway. If you buy games to play, shut up and play (sorry).

And anyway, I wouldn't buy LBP nor GoW2, one is for kids of people who like to make levels, and the other is for kids too (kids that like to see tons of blood and that dislike to change weapons (there is only one usefull gun in GoW1)). I'm more into better games, lol. Like resistant evil 5 (that looks great), valkyria chronicles (demo was hot), God of War 3 (only god knows when it'll pop, and I don't even trust in gods, the only one I like is the god of war! :D), rock band 2 (Buying next month), final fantasy 13 (wow), FFvs13 (awesome), etc etc.

PS: Anyway, nobody cares about sales figures.

» Hmm

That would be true if we were talking about the US however we are talking about Europe.

As of right now, the fanbase for both systems are about the same. So no, it has nothing to do with fanbase.

» I approach them differently!!!

Gears2 is like you have get it fast and go thru the story and then enjoy the mp. It's like an espresso coffee: enjoy your rush first.

LBP is like you can take it slow. Enjoy all the mp levels other people created. There is no rush to go through the sp mode. It's like fine wine.

Conclusion: I love them both ;)

I dont know. Gears 2 feels a little bit different to me but i guess i just need to play it a little more. Just waiting for my box to get back from repairs. Also am i the only one who notices that the shadows and lighting are worse?

Actually sales do matter. People don't continue to buy bad games so they don't get sequels (unless the formula changes or hype it up - see Killzone).

» WTF

Whats Wrong With Killzone because its not coming to X360
