Ubisoft reports a successful six months of games |
Ó
Ubisoft has released its numbers for the first half of the fiscal year, and the figures mark a solid step up. Sales are up 52%, with a net income of EUR 31 million (US$ 46 million). Ubisoft also believes that their holiday season will be productive as well.
Their confidence for the holidays stems from Assassin's Creed (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) presence in the market (which has already sold over 1 million copies since its release and has also topped the UK charts in its first week of release).
By the end of the six month period, Ubisoft declared that they have an operating income of EUR 12.5 million (US$ 18.5 million), which includes a EUR 7.5 million (US$ 11 million) figure they won in a lawsuit.
They accredit the rise to the success of their games released this November, including Assassin's Creed, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, Beowulf, and a lot of casual games which they predicted would benefit them in the long run (guess they're right.)
Ubisoft believes that the fiscal year would be one of "robust growth" and will be able to meet the year's objectives. They also expect that they would be able to increase their growth for next year's figures.

It's cool since I'm living in the same city (Montréal) :D.
But what is that 11M$ for a lawsuit? :S... darn, I new I should've become a lawyer... lol, joking.
If Assassin's Creed has sold a million copies, and I bought one, does that make me 1 in a million?
I'm glad Ubisoft is doing well. I think they do pretty darn good games, and too many good companies have gone down from just not being quite good enough to get the big attention needed.
