Thompson gets slammed with enhanced disbarment

Jack Thompson - Image 1Florida lawyer Jack Thompson is finding himself in deeper, hotter water this time, thanks to his latest antics in the courtroom. Thompson had apparently walked out of the recent disciplinary hearing, after filing his own "Thompson's Formal Objection to June 4 Sanctions Hearing." His actions resulted in getting an "enhanced disbarment" recommendation from the court.

Enhanced disbarment means that Thompson would be disbarred from practicing law for ten years.

Thompson's 4,500-word formal objection included negative remarks towards Judge Dava Tunis, claiming her to be incompetent and arrogant, and questioned her credibility as a judge. Here's an excerpt taken from the filing:

You, the referee, are not even a judge. The law in Florida on that is clear, and it is found in FloridaÂ’s Loyalty Oath Statute 876.05, et sequitur, held constitutional and binding by the United States Supreme Court in Connell v. Higginbotham.

He also mentioned in the formal objection some quotes from the Bible, and mentioned Senators Hillary Clinton and Obama having "followed [Thompson's] lead." He also added "Because I took on this cop-killing, woman-bashing video game, the Presidential race is now addressing the issue and this particular video game."

Will the enhanced disbarment recommendation push through? We will keep you updated, as always. In the meantime, you can check out the Via link for the entire transcript of Thompson's formal objection.

» no shovel will help you now, Jackie-Boy

I knew it, granted it took almost 10 years. But Jack just dug himself into a sinkhole. As much I am a proponent for free speech and legalities that bind to them. I would like to see this man have a gag in his mouth while in court.

I am more than surprised to see this man even capable to rent a house. Best Buy and Target both should have went through entrapment litigation against Jack Thompson.

I hope he gets disbarred for good. Knowing how outlandish and foul his tactics are, it will come in due time.

» no shovel wioll help you now?

the shovel is what got him there lol. if your going to insult osmeone dont screw it up.

» GW sayings are different all over the world.

And in some places, they don't make sense the way they're intended.

In the UK, we have "I couldn't care less". For some reason, Americans have changed that to "I could care less". Actually think about that. Which one makes sense, and which doesn't.

The american version implies they care to a degree. But the saying is used to imply someone doesn't give a damn.

I'm not saying that's definetly where his shovel thing comes from, i'm just saying, don't be so quick to jump on someones back when they use a non-sensical saying, because (if you're not American, I apologise here, but even if not, you'll probably have something else,) you still have your own that don't make sense.

» pwned

in your face >:D

like we say in my country "take it for the pig you have stolen"

(in my language pig is kind of referred to butt hole, like in english ***** is for vagina)

by Goobers - 2008-06-04 15:15
» sayings...

"I could care less" doesn't work with anyone that understands more than "ebonics."

if i were to use it... and i expect those with a decent understanding of "english" would also... we'd end up saying

"like i could care less" which, as slang (and the tones you use while saying it) implies a negative... it's a quirk.

by HakatoX - 2008-06-04 15:30
» I know what I said

no shovel will help him now..... I.E. the Obama and Clinton name drops to gain an "upper hand". A point in this case JT could have dug himself out. Google this HakatoX Jack Thompson QJ. you will see what I am referring to.

Now for the big hoorah

Is that all you have, GW2? it's something called a metaphor, proper english or insults need not apply. Next time you try to belittle some one for (what you think is) a screw up .... take into consideration that you are none too perfect yourself .

and all you could go after was the tittle?

were the other words too complex for you to grasp? so you went after what you perceived as a screwup? Get a girl or a life, there is far too much wrong in the world to try to match wits with some one over a trivial saying.

» Like I Terrible Hollywood Movie quote...

It looks like this bat$hit crazy lawyer is the one that 'got served' lol

Good on him, all the bible quotes and threats to game company's mothers can't save him now. I'm just surprised it took this long for it to happen.

I heard Tetris is what caused Dahmer to eat those people...

by cizzar - 2008-06-04 17:49

"As much I am a proponent for free speech and legalities that bind to them. I would like to see this man have a gag in his mouth while in court."

Then you're not a proponent of free speech. Sorry but free speech means he can say what he likes and has the right to do so. God I hate you hypocrite types.

by XaviorPenguin - 2008-06-04 21:00
» LOLocaust is correct

A sack of vaginal backwash to be more precise.

Besides, I know this will get a sad face ( :( ) but why don't we or someone spam his e-mail address? He placed it into the 4500+ document that he read...something about amendmentone(AT )comcast(DOT)ne t.

I just finished reading it and this is truly a funny document to read. Only read it when you are bored. I read it for the frack of it!

» Re: raggedjimmi

see, and yet you speak so blindly.

If this man cannot keep a calm and speak during appointed moments.... he needs to be gaged.

no respect for the courts or judges that uphold the courts. if he cannot respect the rights of others, then he himself should give up his rights.

check and mate, dildo

» He doesn't even realize how insane he appears.

"Because I took on this cop-killing, woman-bashing video game, the Presidential race is now addressing the issue and this particular video game."

Instead of, you know, important issues.

Way to make our point for us, Jack.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Come on QJ!!!!

"gets slammed with" and "recommendation" are two completely different things!

Unfortunately it matters because people comment without reading...

by du.der.icio.us - 2008-06-05 05:01
» I could care less.

I could, in fact, care less.

To do so, however, would squander resources needlessly.

by cizzar - 2008-06-05 06:44
» hey

if you really want to spam him why the hell don't you write his correct adress ( amendmentone@co mcast.net ) making it easy for spambots to find his adress ( which is amendmentone@co mcast.net ) and sending spam to amendmentone@co mcast.net ?

I repeat : amendmentone@co mcast.net

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Unlike you guys I coulN'T care less.

It's not possible for me to care any less then I do now. I'm already at the bottom of the scale.

Make like a tree and.....go away???

by Neuromancer - 2008-06-05 09:00
» What is he still doing in court

He should have been disbarred long ago. How is he able to keep thumbing his nose at Supreme Court Judges with no penalty?

by UNP - 2008-06-05 09:06
» Because...

The american judicial/legal system is a complete farce?

Or do you want soft, cushy, american-friendly reasons? Sorry, they don't exist.

by SolidXnake - 2008-06-06 05:26
» Ya gonna have to find something to do....

In the 10 years you wont be judging any games.. Oh wait I got something for you to do... Join the GTV4 revolution !LOOOOL! OR you can crap or poop and grab a stick and start poking cuz it's gonna be a long long time - mwahahahahah!

by Project D - 2008-06-06 14:34
» Good god

@GW2 - You've never heard the expression "you can't dig your way out of this one?" before?

@raggedjimmi - There's nothing hypocritical (is that a word?) about that. Free speech does not guarantee individuals the right to verbally abuse others or act like a screaming, whiny child in court. He deserves to be gagged. Hail free speech.

@HakatoX - Hahahaha, dildo. Priceless.

@ISOHaven - Forgive me for being amused by your typo in that, the timing and placement was just too rich. Chortle.

by Project D - 2008-06-06 14:40
» Oh, let 'em have this one

He got slammed with a recommendation. You know as well as I there isn't a court in Florida that will side with him in those proceedings, they might as well have already taken his license to practice away. I wish they had, they've given him a chance to run amok in the interim. Let's hope he doesn't try to make the most of the time he has left, eh? I doubt the legal system can afford to deal with his crap on a large scale.
