It looks as if Namco Bandai's The Idolm@ster is getting itself a handheld version. Korean website VideogamerX has some scans showing off a PSP iteration of the game.

Called The Idolm@ster SP, this game is an idol-raising simulation, allowing users to train a young girl to become an idol, and then engage in rhythm games to show off the said idol's skills.

According to the information available, there also appears to be a new mail checking system, where players can check an idol's email and possibly respond to various emails sent to the idol during the course of the game.

Thanks to a description from Kotaku (external link), it is also known that there will actually be three games released under the The Idolm@ster SP banner, with each game having three controllable idols for you to play with.

The Idolm@ster SP Perfect Sun
  • Haruka Amami
  • Yayoi Takatsuki
  • Makoto Kikuchi
The Idolm@ster SP Wondering Star
  • Yukiho Hagiwara
  • Iori Minase
  • Ami and Mami Futami
The Idolm@ster SP Missing Moon
  • Chihaya Kisaragi
  • Azusa Miura
  • Ritsuko Akizuki
We'll have more on this game as information becomes available. In the meantime, feel free to check out the scans above.

» Another title...

...that won't see an English translation. It looks genuinely interesting too, a bit like Kira Kira on the DS. No wonder the little Sony is doing so well in Japan.

C'mon Sony, grow a pair and experiment with this kind of thing in teh West will you?
