The 3rd Birthday could have been a console game |

The fact that the first two Parasite Eve games appeared on a Sony home console doesn't really mean much since there was no handheld gaming device from Sony when they were released. The 3rd Birthday, though, apparently had a chance to be released on the PlayStation 3. Too bad the development team didn't have enough time to make it happen.
Hajime Tabata, who handled directorial duties on the handheld entry in the Parasite Eve franchise, told video game news blog Siliconera that given the time, he and the development team would have chosen to make The 3rd Birthday a home console release.
"If we had been given more time on this project from the beginning, we would have switched platforms from the PSP to a home console," Tabata lamented. "I would have then liked to have created a shooting-based survival RPG game, where the player is placed in an even more desperate situation, facing insurmountable odds and having to continually fight to survive."
Maybe they'll be given enough time for the next iteration in the series. For now, gamers can catch The 3rd Birthday exclusively on PSP. The game comes out on March 29 in North America and April 1 in Europe.
