Love it or hate it, one good thing about the PSP Go's release next month is that it opens the door to cheaper retail prices for older PSP models. At TGS, Sony announced that a price drop is indeed being instituted for the PSP-3000. In Japan, at least.

The 3000, which is currently carrying a JPÂ¥ 19,800 (around US$ 218) suggested retail price, is getting a shaved and tax-inclusive price tag of JPÂ¥ 16,800 (around US$ 181) starting October 1st.

No word yet on if this'll translate to similar price cuts around the globe.
