MGS: Peace Walker - Image 1

Konami gave out a treat to all the Metal Gear Solid fans around the globe as they released the demo for the new Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. If you're good enough to get a rank of A or S, you'll even get an exclusive PSP wallpaper. And you can play co-op too with your friends.

The requirements for the demo are:
  • You need Firmware 6.0 on the PSP
  • Download and unzip the file below.
  • Install the file by going into USB Mode on the PSP.
  • On your computer go to the PSP folder, then the game folder, then drop "NPJH90063" into that folder.
And by the way, the demo is in Japanese. Not to worry, though. You don't have to feel your way through the controls. There's a Demo Board FAQ up on IGN so that should be a lot of help for you.

You can head to the source link below for the demo download file.

Thanks, tipster jas21!

» OMG YAY

This is one game I've been waiting to try.

Lol it works on 5.50 GEN-A but it doesn't work on 5.00 M33-6

» Really?

It works on 5.50 GEN-A? If so, I might have to update so I can check it out. Either way, GEN or DaX need to get a new CFW out soon. I don't feel like switching firmwares back and forth just to play newer games and keep homebrew.

» Not workin on the fatty

I got a fat psp, upgraded yo 5.50 GEN-A and I get an error saying I need 5.51 :(

» Version.txt

You need to use the version.txt file of 5.55

release:5.55:

build:3230,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6

system:52556@re lease_555,0x050 50510:

vsh6434@release_555,v 52629@release_5 55,20090608:

target:1:WorldWide

Already finished the demo, amazing game although difficult controls at least for me ;.;

» yep

Yep, it works on 5.50GEN-B2 with a 5.55 version.txt

I cant work out the controls or everything. As it's all Japanese it's all backwards for me. If I knew what he was saying I might have an idea what to do.

So far it looks ok, better than the last MGS PSP games.

» controls

The controls are pretty intuitive. Analogue control to move around, dpad up is the action button, dpad down is to crouch, dpad left is items, dpad right is weapons. Left shoulder button is to toggle weapon/recenter camera and Right shoulder button is CQC and L+R together to fire weapon. Select to toggle auto or manual aim. So far, the controls look like a mix of MGS4 and MGS Portable Ops. Graphics are the best of any PSP Metal Gear game so far.

» damn...

it doesn't work on 5.00 m33-6

by pvcHook - 2009-09-24 06:38
» yes, but...

I too was on m33-6 and installed 5.50 GEN-B2 and it works with the version.txt

If you're a MGS fan, it's well worth it IMO. Even if its only in Japanese.
