Take-Two Interactive May Face Criminal Indictment

Corporate crime and malfeasance. It's nothing new (crack open your history book and look up "British East India Company," "Robber Barons," and "The Gilded Age"), and maybe its just that we've noticed it more since the infamous Enron collapse five years ago.

In any event, it's starting to hit home for the gaming community. PS game developer Take-Two Interactive is now the subject of a grand jury investigation. Wall Street analyst Michael Pachter has advised investors to be cautious buying into this company, because the recently issued subpoenas indicate that criminal indictments are not far behind.

"We believe that it is likely that one or more Take-Two employees may be subject to a potential criminal indictment," says Pachter.

T2 Interactive announced earlier this week that the County of New York had issued grand jury subpoenas, requesting several documents from the past five years. It is not currently known if the corporation itself is under investigation, or specific individuals.

"It is impossible to speculate what the specific charges may be given the broad scope of the subpoenas, but we think that there is likely Â‘probable causeÂ’ for the New York DAÂ’s office to seek such subpoenas," Pachter adds. "We expect the grand jury investigation to take several months, and if indictments are issued, we believe that final resolution could take as long as two years."

All this for a sex scene in a game. Wow. The game was rated mature anyway. 17 or older. They briefly changed the game to Adult Only which is 18 or older. WOW. LOL. what a difference between 17 yrs old and 18. I don't think any 17 year old that goes around killing people in GTA can't handle a little virtual porn.

It sounds like the charges are dealing with something more on the corporate side rather than on the production side. In other words, it might not have anything to do with "hot coffee"; it might be related to some shady financial practices by individuals within the corp. If that is the case, then it will be a good thing to clean up the corruption.

These bastards are acting as if there was some sort of collusion to pervert the minds of young children. Considering how unfinished the Hot Coffee mod was it's clear it was just something left in the code that no-one ever imagined would be found and restored to the game. It was probably disabled when they were told it would make the game and 18+ in the first place!

These bloody puritanical politicians who think even the slightest suggestion of sex is evil have gone too far. This is as bad as the Janet Jackson affair, how many children have we heard about being permanently damaged because they saw her nipple??? None, I'll bet!

The game was already rated M, and I think it got changed to Ao. If parents really cared, then they would not let their kids have M and Ao games. My parents didn't, for one.

No, when the ESRB asks you to remove some content of a game to get the M rating, you're supposed to REMOVE it, not half-ass it and simply "disable" it. Rockstar got what they deserved for being lasy f*ckers.

I honestly didn't know, although I totally avoided that story as it was SO FREAKIN' BLOWN OUTTA PRAPORTION!!!
