Taiwan PSP Users Offered Free Wireless Access |
Ó
I guess people who live in Taiwan have all the luck. Well, make that Sony PSP users in Taiwan. Sony PSP users there are being offered free wireless access to the Internet by WiFly. The deal comes from a combined effort between Qware Systems & Services, the builder and operator of the city-wide broadband WLAN WiFly system in Taipei, and Sony Network Taiwan, the operator of local Internet-access services So-net.
Back in September 2005, Sony launched its PSP WLAN services globally first in South Korea. Then, near the end of March 2006, services became available in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Right now, PSP WLAN Internet surfing is available at hot spots; but WiFly extends those services to both indoor and outdoor areas in urban Taipei, according to So-net. Note that PSP users have to use Sony's NUD (Network Utility Disc) to surf the Internet through WiFly.
According to reports, over 70% of PSP users in Taiwan have played on-line games through ADSL or WLAN. And more than 200,000 PSP consoles have been sold in Taiwan.

thats pretty cool
Lol, does this remind you of Nintendo?
wowzers i wish we had that here
When is something like this going to come to Canada?
Those taiwanese people are sure lucky.
And #2 yes I remember about nintendo , when the famicom ( NES ) could be played with anyone online through phone lines and it was available in Japan but it din't do anything great cause of people not seeing the famicom as a online device but a child's toy.
If only the United States do this it would be great and it would be wireless fun
Wahaha
I am Taiwanese. Hear this new for several weeks ago, but we still don't know when we can use wifly.
Yeah, I wrote up an article about this over at PSP-Vault like 2+ weeks ago... hardly "updates".
OH SO US COMMIES FROM THE PRC DON'T GET THIS, HUH?!?!?!? AND TAIWAN DOES, HUH?!?!?
Well this just makes my day.
do yuo think you would have to update to use this feature?
hasn't this already come to a few cities in north america (anybody know a site with a map of places with free wi-fi)
