The party never stops in Tokyo as Square Enix revealed their huge lineup of voice actors for Star Ocean: First Departure and Star Ocean: Second Evolution. The classic characters from the series will be brought to life by big names, showing SE's determination in making the remakes feel like new.

Here's the lineup:

Star Ocean: First Departure

  • Mamoru Miyano as Ratix Farrence
  • Hitomi Nabatame as Milly Kiliet
  • Houko Kuwashima as Marvel Frozen
  • Megumi Toyoguchi as Fear Mell

Star Ocean: Second Evolution

  • Daisuke Namikawa as Claude C. Kenni
  • Nana Mizuki as Rena Lanford
  • Tomokazu Sugita as Dias Flac
  • Rie Kugimiya as Precis F. Neumann

Squeenix is definitely going all out on this one. Mamoru Miyano is famous for his role as Light Yagami from the anime series, Death Note. This guy voicing Ratix Farrence was nominated for Best Male Main Character and Best Male Rookie during the first ever voice actors contest.

Hitomi Nabatame is a seasoned veteran who played major roles in titles such as Shakugan no Shana and School Rumble. Houko Kuwashima is another star with more than 40 titles under her belt, including Gundam SEED and Inu Yasha which are also popular in the west.

Megumi Toyoguchi's got an amazing track record, her experience not only from anime and video games but also TV and radio dramas. Like her, Daisuke Namikawa is a guy that does pretty much everything including theater and movie dubs. Nana Mizuki's career goes a long way, not only as a voice actress for famous anime but also as a singer.

While Tomokazu Sugita doesn't have a long list of roles, he played main characters in very popular shows like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Just like the others in the lineup, Rie Kugimiya is a prominent figure in Japan's voice acting industry. She's more commonly known as the voice behind Shakugan no Shana's main female character.

The grand cast isn't the only thing going for SE, the voice work will also be very extensive according to the actors. Unfortunately, fans may have to wait longer for these remakes. The scripts aren't completed yet, and no recording done as of now neither.

» Finally...

I've been waiting for the Star Ocean series to land on the PSP. Star Ocean 2 is arguably the best RPG I have ever played. Others, of course, would disgaree with me but nonetheless, it is great to have these two classics back on their feet.

That said, it's time for me to start saving up.
