Space Invaders Extreme published by Square Enix according to GameStop - Image 1 According to GameStop, Square Enix will be publishing an age-old classic game for Nintendo's DS and Sony's PSP handhelds. Taito's Space Invaders Extreme (DS, PSP) will be released outside of Japan this year.

To those who are in the dark and are curious to know why Taito doesn't hold the reins to this North American release, one probable reason is that Taito itself is owned by RPG-creator Square Enix. If this be the real case, then Space Invaders Extreme will hold the title to being the very first Taito game with the Squeenix mark on it.

This game has been made in order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Space Invaders. It will be mixing elements from the gameplay of the classic arcade shooter with brand-spanking new music and visuals. Special powers and new modes are added to enhance the game.

In GameStop's website, they have released information that both versions of the game for the PSP and the DS will be shipped on June 17, 2008 with the price of US$ 19.99.

Hopefully, the invasion of this game is successful when it reaches the hands of many. Keep your eyes glued to our site for more updates!

» Wow this game rocks

Anyone who hasn't tryed this game needs, and I mean NEEDS to download this demo. I have never before played space invaders in my life (well except an off-shoot on a Ti-86 calculator) and this game is amazing.

Usually once I play a demo, I'm done with it. The only exceptions being Patapon and this game. The menus and soundtrack blow me away, it's very remenicent of Lumines.
