Square Enix revenues down but profits kick up |
Ó
Square Enix's overall sales are down in Q1 of this fiscal year, but that doesn't mean the company is losing money. As a matter of fact, it's gaining more profits compared to the same period last year.Overall revenues fell 9.3 percent to US$ 275.3 million. Profits, however, jumped up to US$ 26.7 from the previous fiscal cycle's US$ 25.3, but the Japanese publisher did not explain why.
Regional sales were down in Europe and Asia, but the North American market is still responding well, posting a slight increase from US$23.8 million last year to US$ 24.4 million this year.
From a sectoral standpoint, Square Enix's sales are down in both online and offline portfolios. Similar slight falls were also noted for the company's mobile and amusement businesses.

"Overall revenues fell 9.3 percent to US$ 275.3 million. It is because, they decided to go multiplatform with FFXIII, instade of sticking to the tried and tested method of using SONY console exclusively.
250mil of 275mil is costs.... thats truely amazing, i understand development costs and all, but 90% is costs...almost not worth all the hype that it gets with those kind of profits really :P
I wonder if microsoft's wad of cash to bring FFXIII shows up in these figures. As long as i can play FF games on whatever console i have bought, then i couldn't care less if its on other formats as well.
talking *****.
of course MS paid SE... i don't find another reason for SE to not release the ps3 version first, instead of finishing the ps3 version and wait until the 360 version is finished. It's not logic.
Its just about time no other consoles failing so finally they can go multiplat since Xbox was a semifailure and they had problems wit Nintendo (resolved obviously now) Sony was most popular and the only thing they had at the time
