Lenneth Valkyrie in Dissidia Final Fanatsy - NOT!!! - Image 1

Square Enix has published a press release outlining all of their titles to roll out in North America during the first quarter of 2009. Some of them, like Star Ocean: Second Evolution, have already been confirmed before (now, we get a specific release date though, and not just a release window). Other titles, like Valkyrie Profile for the DS get actual confirmation today of a western localization - complete with a formal English title.

Here's the full list in chronological order:
Now that's all good, right? But the careful observer (and the hopeful enthusiast like myself) would notice that Dissidia is absent from this list. With the game being released next month in Japan, you'd think that a Western release could follow soon after (especially since Square Enix has promised to bring simultaneous worldwide releases).

I could be wrong though. Square Enix could pull a fast one on us and actually release it alongside Japan's, sometime in December. Either that, or sometime after Q1 2009. Whatever the case, before or after the said timeframe, gamers who are hoping for reatil releases from Square Enix during Q1 shouldn't expect Dissidia.

Likewise, just in case you've been hoping (for some bizarre reason): the FFXIII games aren't going to be released during Q1 either. And the Kingdom Hearts titles and Parasite Eve for the PSP are MIA as well.

For what it's worth, these games in the list - and for all intents and purposes, these games only (until further updates) - will see North American retail releases come Q1 2009.

Oh and please. Neither will there be an FF7 remake in Q1 2009. Please... Just... *sigh* Please.

» That was pretty obvious

as the FFXIII demo isn't out until the end of Q1 when Advent Children Complete comes out on Blu-ray. The full game won't be out for at least 3 months from then in Japan and the rest of the world can look forward to a Q4 launch of the game, possibly Q1 of 2010.

Versus XIII will be a 2010 launch and Agito XIII will come out after that.

» ACK!!

I'm sorry. It's just hard for me to believe that Square(along with enix), is now making games for Xbox! I can't believe that Star Ocean will now be on the xfux errrrr, I mean Xbox. If only Hinorubu were still with Squaresoft....

» ????

If you really followed Hironobu Sakaguchi you would know he is making games for xbox 360 as well.

» Damn...

Star Ocean will be an xbox only release +(. I think I might sell my PS3 is they don't change it. I'm really dissappointed at Sony not being able to keep their promises, especially when the reason that I bought the ps3 was becuz they I trusted them that they would deliver, just like with the ps1 and ps2. I just hope I can get enough money for my ps3 and the 3 games I bought for it :S.

» hm?

Maybe I wasn't clear with what I posted....

When Hinorubu Sakaguchi was with Squaresoft he was hands on in developing new titles when making games for snes and psx (at the time). Fine, he brought out "Odessy" for 360 but what gives with the limited release titles under the Mistwalker logo?? Unless he's making unlimited titles overseas that will never make it to the U.S. market, like he did when he was with past platforms....

» dude

Star Ocean isn't that great. Besides, what do you mean Sony hasn't kept its promise? Have you seen the recent lineup of releases? Each game being released nowadays is a blockbuster hit!
