Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and yes, even Kingdom Hearts. Square Enix stands on the pillars of its great franchises, those three among them. If you love those three, then this might come as good news to you - Yoichi Wada wants to add two to three more franchises to that list.

Wada-san said that the new key franchises would get their first games by 2011. With the acquisition of Eidos, Square Enix may have more surprises up their sleeve than another RPG. The content of the new games and whether or not Eidos will have a hand in them still needs to be revealed.

Note that these aren't just new games coming - Square is going triple-A with new franchises. If you're familiar with Square Enix's history in the industry, you'd be just as interested as I am in seeing those games unfold.

» I don't think it'd be Square Enix titles

Front Mission and Mana are key franchises. Not as big as FF or Dragon Quest, but still the AAA franchises.

I think it'll be Chrono, Legacy of Kain, and Tomb Raider.

» Franchises

Few business models are successful as the idea of franchises. Franchises take a lot of the guess work out of business operations, as you know exactly what products you are offering and who your customer base is, pretty much all of it. More and more people have been getting installment loans to open their own franchises than any other kind of business. Check out http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/2009/10/07/consumers-installment-loans-fund-franchises/ for more info.
