Spider-Man 3 sets the facts straight

Spider-Man 3 - Image 1Activision has just released the official fact sheet for their line of Spider-Man 3 games. Based on Columbia Pictures' upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie, the games promise to give players a chance to experience both movie-based as well as original 3.

Among the features that they have cited in their fact sheet, Activision mentions that players will be able to not just take on the adventures of our favorite webslinger, but those of his evil alter-ego symbiote costume as well. By playing as Venom, our hero's strength increases dramatically. However, the catch is that the longer that you take on this dark persona, the harder it is to control its will, and there is a chance that it might even take over you completely.

Besides having Venom as an alternate persona, players will also be able to freely roam New York City and take on missions as they please. However, just remember that in such a vast city, villains are bound to be scattered all around, and you will have to choose which bombing, hostage crisis, robbery, or other incident you will attend to first if you want to be able to rescue all those who need rescuing.

Besides your familiar roster of supervillains, there are three city gangs and their followers which you will have to deal with. Considering that the new AI has been amped up, and a new combat system has been implemented, it can be assumed that controlling these hooligans won't be a cakewalk.

Bound for release this May, Spider-Man 3 will be making appearances on the Xbox 360, the PS3, the Wii, PSP, NDS, PS2, GBA, and the PC.

But back to the article, Im always a fan of playing a good Spider Man game. Flying though the city, just by pressing "R1" (Sorry, Nitendo/Microsoft ;) ) brings a real thrill down my spine, and these changes seem like they will give the game a new edge. Go on Spiderman!

This looks like the first Spider-Man game to actually get things right. I'll probably get it after I see the movie.

» Not Venom

Black Suit Spiderman is NOT venom. Venom is the personality taken on by the suit after he attaches to Eddie Brock. It is not considered venom whilst attached to Spiderman.

Bingo, and it's actually it's not even a suit exactly. In the original Spider-Man it is an alien creature called a symbiot, named for it's symbiotic relationship with it's host. And in the Ultimate Spider-Man series it is a scientific creation by none other than Peter's very own father!

» true but!

according to the spiderman 3 site, it says spiderman will fight venom...maybe i'm wrong but i doubt the people who made movie are.

» Venom Symbiote

In the comics the symbiote would learn from its host thats why the the comics the symbiote saved peter from getting killed in the church.

Eddie Brock was in the same church asking for forgivness because he was going to kill himself after losing his job because of spiderman and the symbiote sensed the hate that he had for peter(spiderman ) and bonded with him and became Venom

In another mini series from Mavel

Spider-Man: The Other

Peter dies and he had another chance at life by embraceing his inner spider or somthing he told the guy to hell and he was trapped in a webb cacoon under a bridge and the wearer of the symbiote suit was marc something he used to be the scorpion anyway the symbiote senced peter was there and bonded with him becoming Poison because peter was to weak to fight the symbiote after it bonded with him so he became a completetly insane

So mybe they should symbiote spiderman ,symbiote spiderman or Poison you pick

by Ole No-Name - 2007-02-24 14:57
» yep

Yep Shadow hit the nail on the head it's

Generally-Without host/Symbiote,

» POSSIBLE MOVIE SPOILER Venon info

DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU DONT WANT THE MOVIE SPOLED (IN A WAY).

Spiderman isnt venom when the symbiot takes over him, he is still spiderman, but the symbiot gives him more strength/power and it starts to go to his head and instead of fighting crime he just starts having fun and screwing around (and i think he mugs someone or somthing).

DO NOT READ THIS NEXT PART IF YOU DONT WANT THE MOVIE SPOLED (IN A WAY).

And then Peter has some sort of inner struggle with the suit and tears it off then somthing happens with Eddie Brock and he gets the symbiot somehow and HE becomes venom.

SPOILER END

I wonder how the PSP game is gonna differ from the PS3 version. I hope its like not crappy stages/levels like number 2. I so hope its free-roam :).

Considering that's how it happened in the original comic book story back in the 80's I don't think it's a copy of that.

I haven't kept up on comic book story lines in many years, so . . .

If Peter's father created it, then how did it end up on another planet? (Secret Wars) Where he actually ended up picking it up.

by James - 2007-02-24 15:28
» so...

so the spiderman with the black costume can also be called poison? bear with me, i haven't read it.

The symbiot does not bond with anyone to make carnage. It's the symbiots offspring that bonds with Cletus Kasady, some psycho killer.

» people dont listen

The Symbiot is the black ooze. When it fuses with Eddie Brock they are Venom. If you read my post you might understand better. In the normal, original Spider-Man the Symbiot is an alien life form. But in Ultimate Spider-Man(which is a retelling of the the whole series) Peter's dad created it in a lab. They are two different series! The movies are closer to the original and that is why they had Jamison's son in the last one, because he is an astronaut and he brings it back with him on accident. It stows away on the shuttle during a space mission.

Anyone ever tried to be the last poster for a change?

You're right. People DON'T listen.

If you read my post, you'd know that I said, I haven't kept up on comics for many years, so I don't know what Ultimate Spider-Man is.

And just because they are seperate series that automatically means they are seperate story lines? Man you're dumb. What about amazing spider-man, spectacular spider-man, web of spider-man, spider-man (originally drawn by McFarlane).

What do you know, all seperate series, all based on the same story line.

Go choke yourself.

So no, a seperate series does not always indicate a seperate story line.

And why are you re-iterating the venom bit. I didn't question that. Everybody knows that part.

I don't think you know as much as you're trying to pretend to.
