If a portable Tekken 6 isn't to your liking, then maybe you'd prefer to see Soul Calibur on the PlayStation Portable instead. If so, you're in luck. That's exactly what Namco Bandai has in store for you. A new entry in the long-running Soul Calibur series called Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny is being prepped for a summer release on the PSP.

Unlike Tekken 6, which is essentially a port of the home console versions, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny will be a PSP original. It will feature a roster of more than 20 characters, including mainstays Voldo, Mitsurugi, Ivy, and Cassandra along with a new character called Dampierre. That's him looking campy up top. No Yoda though. Same with Darth Vader.

One cool feature in particular is a lighting system that lets stages have different times of day. An enhanced character creation system will also be included along with local ad-hoc multiplayer. There's also a single-player campaign that's designed to teach players the intricacies of the game. Think of it as a long, detailed tutorial, if you will.

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny will be officially unveiled at E3 09. You know, with all these new ad-hoc games coming out Sony really should start setting up the Ad-hoc Party service outside Japan. Just a thought. Maybe they'll have something for us at E3.

They were right maybe...this is the year of the PSP...but the real question is...is this the year of the PSP games? or the PSP game announcements? cant wait for either SC or Tekken6...but LBP and FTB3 are in the top of my list...now Namco-Bandai needs to announce a new Ace Combat XD

» well

its nice to hear that all of these games are coming to the PSP, but i dont want the devs to rush through it just because it IS a PSP.

i know Tekken 6 will only be a port, but if they could tinker with the graphics a little more.....the screens for it looked terrible compared to DR

im interested in LBP, AC, this, Tekken 6, Dissidia (US), and BbS (but probably not this year)

» Brill!

Definetly a game I've been wating to see come forwards. It was only a matter of time before Soul Claibur debuted on a handheld. Shame it took them so long to decide to make it, but that just means they know how to take advantage of the power the PSP has. I would definetly like to see it more like SC3 than 4 though, because SC3 had a lot more in the game to do. I wouldn't mind a chronicles of the sword style mion game in SC for the psp ^_^.
