Sony's Jim Ryan: PlayStation Phone concept definitely plausible |
Ó
After all the rumors have been debunked about Sony Ericsson releasing a PlayStation branded cell phone, Jim Ryan, co-chief operating officer of Sony, has resurfaced interests in the project by saying that a PlayStation Phone was "definitely plausible".Jim Ryan had this to say on the matter:
The PlayStation is a proven success and so is Sony Ericsson. Convergence with the two arms working together is definitely plausible. It is hugely intellectually seductive to have a console oriented phone.
The functionality of such phone would mostly center on it as a gaming device rather than integrating it into the design of a standard cell phone. For one thing, most gamers wouldn't appreciate a gaming device with a such small screen and a limited key size.
The U.S. Patents and Trademark Office has already received an application from Sony Ericsson for a mobile device with video game features. So does this mean we'll be seeing a glimpse of this unique gadget some time soon?
Don't get your hopes up, though. Ryan hasn't pegged a date when this cell phone may actually be put into production, if ever. However, things are looking up for those gadget geeks waiting to get their hands on a true blue gaming gizmo and cell phone all in one gadget.

Well, a cellphone that's a video game console. We should definitely engage this concept, because no one else has ever tried this before... Let's make it shaped like a Taco! That'd be cool.
Anyhow, when and if it comes out, we'll find out who is more fanboyish: the Apple slaves, or the Sony slaves. Apparently, the Apple fanboys are drooling all over their iPhones.
Shall the same happen with the Sony phone?
Why not make a huge screened phone (like the CECT P168) that has a touch screen, BUT at the same time, make it "landscaped" instead of portrait, AND add buttons on the sides? Basically, it's a phone that's a little smaller than a PSP, but it has touchscreen capabilities and the buttons (including shoulder buttons?). Also, rumble should be innate, since phones have rumble built in... Also, how about touchscreen tactile feedback? You click on a item on the touchscreen, and it gives you slight vibrational feedback. Kewl.
You must not remember the NGage, bombed like the piece of crap it was, not the first, but coming from sony, it might be better and do much better.
this will be cool
you cant have all. . . they should concentrate on one thing they haven't focused yet... they haven't figured out the many flaws in the psp part. what more with the phone thingy on it.
