By now every Sony watcher knows that they've booked three hours for their conference at next week's GamesCom event in Cologne. As it turns out, though, the guys from Sony won't be spending all of that time talking on stage and showing off whatever new stuff they've brought along.

An SCEE rep recently confirmed to gaming blog VG247 that the actual Sony conference will clock in at "just over an hour." All that extra time is apparently allotted "for people to sit down... before we get started."

They've also sent out a press release saying that the conference on August 18, 2009, Thursday, will last from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM CEST instead of the 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM timeslot they mentioned a while back. The conference itself will start at 7:00 PM. In the US, that's 10:00 AM PST, 1:00 PM EST. In the UK, that's 6:00 PM BST.

I just wish they use maybe ten minutes of that time to announce a price cut, say something official about the PS3 Slim, and confirm that Adhoc Party is finally ready to come out of Japan. Oh, and a lower price point for the PSP Go. Just ten minutes, Sony. That's all I ask.

» Yes!

Adhoc Party and a cheaper Go is all I want to see. The price point of the Go is a flat out deal breaker.

So an hour of them announcing something that we will most likely already know and no longer care about eh?

» 20 bucks says...

Sony will announce a price increase on the PS3, 100 new revisions for the PSP and a compulsory recall of all previous PSP models with no refund.

And don't forget the announcement of the $10,000 PS4, which is essentially the PS3 with one extra USB slot.
