Sony wants Ready At Dawn back for new PSP game |
Ó

Now isn't this just absolutely rad?! Or, RAD, rather. Ready At Dawn may have ended their PSP development after Daxter and GoW: Chains, but not if Sony's got any say on the matter. That's radical, dude!
According to Sony's John Koller (my, my, is he just making his rounds across the media recently or what?), they've been having talks with Ready At Dawn. Since two of RAD's PSP games proved to sell a lot, Sony now wants them to go back to revisit another franchise and release another game for the PSP!
Ready at Dawn is a fantastic developer, they did God of War: Chains of Olympus and Daxter. The conversations with them continue.
Don't give up on Ready at Dawn yet.
In mid 2006 the hardware had seen a bit of a bottoming out, a lot of publishers decided to reallocate their resources. In 2007 the PSP 2000 came out and we saw a big increase in sales. When we met with developers in 2008 they said, 'How can we get back into the PSP?
We went in with a number of ideas and really laid it out. We had recommendations about franchises that made a lot of sense for the PSP.
And that looks cool. Back in December, RAD already revealed that they plan to reconsider the whole "no more PSP games" plan. With RAD having a change of heart and Sony trying to get them back, we now have interest from both parties concerned. They could make it work!
Online petition for new Jak & Daxter for the PSP please. And call me a monkey's uncle... if that "PlayStation IP yet to be revealed in E3" would be just that - a new J&D game for the PSP, imagine!

I'd rather they did a new God of War personally. I want more portable Kratos goodness.
RAD is the greatest development team for the PSP. I hope they come back.
RAD is a great studio. I loved their titles. Hopefully we'll see an actual Jak & Daxter game. Or perhaps an Uncharted spinoff. Many possibilities exist.
Those guys know how to develop a game. I don't care what they do, it'll be gold.
We need new IP's, new games, new innovations. Not to say God of War sucks ( I beat it like 5 times) but it time for some fresh gameplay.
Considering God of War 3 is supposed to be the 3rd and final tale of Kratos, however that may not be the end of God of War entirely though. R@D and SMS could use the god of war engine they've built after god of war 3 and use it to make new franchises maybe instead of greek mythology, they could do Egyptian mythology or any of these mythologies. There's many they can do to continue, considering it'd be a waste if they don't use the engine for other games. With this in mind, I'd rather them make a new PSP game using the PSP GOW engine and make a another mythological game.
@DannyDanger, while I see where you're getting at, and partially agree, I don't agree with your post though. There's no proof anything new will be a massive hit. I'd say make a new IP or two, but continue making games and gameplay mechanics that has already proven to be a massive success on the PSP. That includes what I stated above to NathanDrake.
Ehh, I personally think they need to release Chains for PS2 already, or even PS3/PSN.
Anyway, I'd love to see a Shadow of the Colossus sequel/prequel for the PSP, that would be absolutely amazing.
Why should they release it on PS2?
I don't want to see either a new GoW or Jak game done by them, instead I want something new. We know they can pull off gow & jak, lets give em more to tweak back to life
So far, so good. So here's to hoping more and awesome titles for the PSP. Both J&D and God of War series/franchise rocks! Good luck to RAD and every other developers out there.
Fair enough. But I really do enjoy God of War on PSP greatly that I want a new one to play through. And at least I'd know what I'd be getting then. Lats time the PSP had 'fresh gameplay' it was stuff like Loco Roco and Patapon which may have been great for other people but I didn't really enjoy either one.
But I do like the idea of doing other ancient mythologies.
I too enjoyed the PSP version of GOW and want another one as well. But I'm just stating what the directors, producers, and developers has stated throughout the whole GOW3 development. The director has stated and pretty sure this is the end of Kratos tale but not for the God of War franchise. This to me tells me they're probably going to explore other mythologies. And this is awesome cause it'd be a waste if they just don't make another game using the God of War engine they've built as of now.
Just to touch on the "Loco Roco and Patapon" games. Those games are the PSP equivalent imo to Mirrors Edge and Little Big Planet, where to me it wasn't my type of game. But there's no denying those games fit a certain new crowd that loves them to bits. But considering there's millions of people with different taste and likes, it's to be expected.
I loved the first PSP GOW. I do hope they make a new one..
